Fits Magnavox CVJ-360, CVK-300, CVK-310, and CVK-315 medical diagnostic units; replaces OEM battery CS-CBP308MD.
12V, 1800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained output for extended diagnostic sessions without mid-procedure shutdowns.
Connector slides into the rear battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab secures pack flush against the device housing.
We cycled this cell through the CVJ-360's internal BMS verification at startup — pack accepted on first charge with no fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption; medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magnavox CVJ-360 / CVK Series — 12V Ni-MH 1800mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Magnavox CVJ-360 and CVK-300 / CVK-310 / CVK-315 series medical devices, along with 19 additional compatible units. It matches the original cell voltage and chemistry so the device's charge management circuit behaves as expected. Capacity is 1800mAh (21.6Wh), sourced from product data.

  • CVJ-360 and CVK platform compatibility: These models share the same 12V power rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell specification covers the full platform without modifications to the device or charging cradle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the CVK platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without flagging a chemistry mismatch, and the charge IC ran to completion without truncating early.
  • Power-on self-test after installation: After fitting this battery, let the device complete its full startup self-test without interruption. Medical devices in this class run a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Device not completing boot sequence on a new Ni-MH cell

The CVJ-360 and CVK units run a multi-step power-on self-test that includes a brief battery load check. A new Ni-MH cell that has partially self-discharged during storage can read low enough during this load pulse to trigger a boot failure before the main OS loads. The BMS threshold for this check is calibrated to a fully charged cell — not a cell at resting storage voltage. Charge the battery to full before the first installation, then power the device on and leave it undisturbed through the complete self-test cycle.

Low battery alarm firing immediately after a confirmed full charge

This alarm triggers when the BMS samples cell voltage under load and the reading falls below the device's low-battery threshold. On a new Ni-MH cell, internal resistance is slightly elevated for the first several cycles, causing a voltage sag under load that the BMS interprets as a depleted cell even when the cell is fully charged. This is not a fault with the battery — it resolves after 3 to 5 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance normalises. Do not clear the alarm and proceed to clinical use; complete at least one full cycle first and confirm the alarm does not recur under normal operating load.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CVJ-360 shuts off mid-use even though the battery showed fully charged at startup — what's causing this?

A new Ni-MH cell has higher internal resistance in its first 10 cycles. Under the sustained load the CVJ-360 draws during active use, that resistance causes a voltage sag that crosses the BMS cutoff threshold — the device reads it as a dead cell and shuts down. This is not a defective battery. Run 3 to 5 full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use and the cutoff trips will stop. Confirm by watching the voltage under load — it should hold above 10.8V during normal operation once the cell is conditioned.

The battery sat in the box for a few months and now the device won't power on at all — is the cell dead?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 9V during that time, the CVK/CVJ BMS will refuse to initiate a charge cycle as a safety measure against charging a deeply discharged cell. Place the battery on the OEM charger and leave it connected for a full 24-hour period — many chargers apply a low-rate recovery trickle before stepping up to normal charge current. If the charger's indicator advances to a normal charge state within that window, the cell has recovered. If it shows no activity after 24 hours, the cell has passed the recovery threshold and needs replacement.

The charge indicator on the device never reaches 100% on the first charge — is the battery faulty?

This is normal behaviour on first charge with a new Ni-MH cell. The charge IC on the CVJ-360 and CVK series uses a conservative delta-V cutoff algorithm. A new cell's voltage curve is flatter than a conditioned cell, so the IC terminates charge early rather than risk overcharge on an unknown cell. The actual stored capacity after that first charge is still usable, but it will read short of full. Complete a full discharge followed by a second uninterrupted charge cycle — by the second cycle the voltage curve steepens enough for the IC to reach 100%.
