Fits Dynavox FMP3 mobile device; replaces OEM battery type for this portable communication unit.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 1200mAh supplies continuous power for voice and standby operation on the FMP3 platform.
Connector slides into the FMP3 battery slot with positive terminal alignment; locking tab seats flush against the device frame.
We bench-tested this cell in the FMP3 under talk-time load; BMS voltage held steady through discharge, no early cutoff detected.
On first charge after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dynavox FMP3 — 3.7V Li-ion 1200mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V lithium-ion replacement battery rated at 1200mAh (4.44Wh) for the Dynavox FMP3 portable communication device. It fits directly into the FMP3 and restores power to a unit that no longer holds a usable charge. Physical dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — verify against your existing cell before ordering.

  • FMP3 platform fit: The FMP3 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion configuration. This cell matches that voltage rail and the physical footprint the device requires. No adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench with BMS monitoring active. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-voltage and over-discharge thresholds. Charge acceptance was stable across multiple cycles.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before it begins reporting percentages under real load conditions.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the FMP3 after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. The fuel gauge IC on the FMP3 was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original aged cell. When the new cell hits a load spike — screen at full brightness, audio output, or wireless transmission — voltage drops faster than the gauge expects at that percentage. The device interprets the sag as a critical low and shuts down before the display reads zero. One full discharge-to-charge cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter against the new cell and eliminates most of these premature shutdowns.

FMP3 not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V before installation, the BMS trips into deep-discharge lockout and blocks all current flow to protect the cell. The device will show no response — no boot screen, no charging indicator. Connect the FMP3 to a wall charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS lockout threshold, typically around 3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FMP3 shows 25% battery and then just cuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is most likely fine. This is a voltage cliff: under load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects based on the old cell's discharge curve. The gauge was calibrated to an aged cell and hasn't mapped the new one yet. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge fully without interruption — this resets the coulomb counter to the new cell curve.

The battery percentage on the FMP3 jumps around erratically after fitting the replacement — 60% one minute, 45% the next.

Erratic percentage readings happen because the fuel gauge IC is still referencing the discharge profile of the original cell. It has no calibration data for the new cell yet, so it interpolates incorrectly. This isn't a hardware fault — it corrects itself after one or two full discharge-charge cycles. Let the device discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100% without unplugging early.

The FMP3 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery arrived and I fitted it straight away.

Cells can self-discharge during shipping and storage. If the cell voltage fell below 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks output entirely — the device gets no power. Plug the FMP3 into a wall charger and leave it connected for at least 15 minutes before pressing the power button. The charge IC trickles current past the lockout threshold; once the cell reaches approximately 3.0V the BMS releases and charging resumes normally.
