Fits HYT PT850 two-way radios; replaces OEM battery BL1805.
3.7V and 1800mAh capacity powers the PT850 through a full shift without mid-transmission dropouts.
Connector slides straight into the PT850 battery slot with a positive contact tab facing the radio body.
We bench-tested this cell in the PT850 dock; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault LED.
If the charger dock shows a fault light after inserting this battery, remove it, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the HYT platform needs a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HYT PT850 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1805)

This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the HYT PT850 portable two-way radio. It carries OEM part number BL1805 and fits directly into the PT850 battery bay. Capacity figure is taken from the product specification — 1800mAh, 6.66Wh.

  • PT850 platform fit: The PT850 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a multi-pin connector that carries both power and BMS data lines. This replacement matches that connector pinout and voltage rail so the radio's charge-state indicator reads correctly from first insertion.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and transmit-load discharge on the PT850 platform. The BMS held stable across the PTT current spike at transmit — no overcurrent trip or unexpected cutoff during the test sequence.
  • Contact strip care on first dock insertion: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The PT850 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will begin.

Why the PT850 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL1805

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.6V to 3.75V — not at full charge. When you press PTT, the radio draws a sharp current spike to drive the RF output stage. If the cell is at storage voltage, that spike can pull the terminal voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily, causing the radio to drop the transmission. This is not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully before the first PTT test — the dock should show a solid green before you key up.

PT850 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting BL1805

The PT850 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a fuel gauge chip — each bar corresponds to a fixed voltage window. A new cell at storage voltage sits near the lower threshold, so the radio may display one bar even though the pack is not depleted. Place the battery on charge until the dock shows green, then reinsert it. The bar display should step up to full once the cell reaches its rated terminal voltage around 4.1V–4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PT850 charger dock has been blinking for two hours and never moves past the fault LED — what's wrong?

A fault LED that won't clear usually means the pack voltage arrived below the dock's acceptance threshold — typically under 3.0V after extended storage. The dock rejects packs it reads as potentially over-discharged as a protection step. Remove the battery, wait 60 seconds, wipe the gold contacts clean, and reseat it firmly to trigger a fresh BMS handshake. If the dock accepts it, you'll see the charge LED switch to steady amber within a minute of reseating.

The PT850 drops to noticeably weaker audio and signal mid-shift — is the battery going flat or is something else happening?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not sudden depletion. When the radio transmits repeatedly over a long shift, the cell voltage dips under load even if the bar indicator still shows bars — the PT850 reduces TX power when the voltage rail sags below its operating floor. Let the pack cool for five minutes off the radio, then reinsert it. If the radio recovers its output, the cell is still serviceable; if it sags again within a few transmissions, the pack needs replacing.

The BL1805 was stored in a drawer for several months and now the PT850 won't power on at all — is the battery dead?

Li-ion cells left in storage self-discharge slowly, and after several months the cell voltage can drop below the radio's minimum power-on threshold — usually around 2.7V to 3.0V. The radio won't boot from that voltage. Place the pack in the dock charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before testing — most chargers can recover a cell from this range with a trickle pre-charge cycle. If the dock accepts the pack and the charge LED activates, the battery is recovering; power the radio on only after the dock shows a solid charge indicator.
