Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera PT580H / PT580H Plus — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL2019 / BL2505)
This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the Hytera PT580H and PT580H Plus portable two-way radios. It replaces OEM part numbers BL2019 and BL2505. Both radios share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol, so one pack covers both models.
- PT580H and PT580H Plus compatibility: Both models run the same 7.4V power rail and use an identical connector and latch mechanism. The BMS negotiation sequence is the same across the series, so there is no firmware or hardware difference that affects pack acceptance.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge, idle, and full transmit loads on the PT580H. The BMS held stable through PTT-triggered current spikes and did not trigger overcurrent lockout under normal push-to-talk use.
- First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The PT580H platform requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before the dock will begin charging.
Why the PT580H cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL2019
When a new pack ships from storage, its cell voltage typically sits between 3.6V and 3.7V per cell — below the PT580H's transmit-load threshold. At full PTT output, the radio draws a sharp current spike that the BMS reads as an unsafe discharge event and trips the overcurrent protection. This is not a faulty pack. A full charge cycle before the first field use brings both cells up to 4.2V each, which gives the BMS enough headroom to absorb the transmit spike without cutting out.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting a new pack
The PT580H uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads instantaneous cell voltage, not a capacity estimate. A new pack at storage voltage will display one or two bars even though the cells are not depleted. This is expected behaviour. Charge the pack fully before reading the bar display; at 8.4V resting voltage the indicator will show the correct full-charge bar count.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PT580H radio cuts out the moment I press PTT — why does this happen with a brand-new battery?
A new pack ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.6V per cell. When you press PTT, the radio draws a transmit current spike that pushes the BMS over its overcurrent threshold, triggering a protective cutoff. This is not a defective pack — the cells simply need a full charge before field use. Charge to 8.4V resting voltage and the BMS will have enough headroom to handle the transmit load without cutting out.
The charger dock is showing a fault LED and hasn't cleared after 30 minutes — what's causing it?
The dock fault LED usually means the pack arrived below the charger's acceptance voltage threshold. Most Hytera docks won't begin a charge cycle if the pack is too far below the minimum intake voltage. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, and reinsert firmly — a dirty contact can prevent the BMS handshake from completing. If the LED still doesn't clear, leave the pack seated for a further 10–15 minutes; some docks run a trickle pre-charge to bring the cell voltage up to the acceptance threshold before switching to full charge.
After a few months on the shelf, my PT580H won't power on even after the dock showed a full charge — is the battery dead?
Extended storage can push Li-ion cells below the BMS recovery threshold, which causes the protection circuit to lock out the pack entirely. A dock that shows "full" may have only trickle-charged the pack to the lockout boundary without completing a true charge cycle. Connect the pack to the dock, leave it undisturbed for at least one full uninterrupted charge cycle of several hours, and check the resting voltage — a recovered pack should read at or above 8.0V off the charger before you seat it in the radio.
