Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ma-Com-Ericsson BZ1032 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ma-Com-Ericsson BZ1032 two-way radio. It slots into the same battery bay and uses the same contact arrangement as the original pack. Capacity figures come from the product data — 2000mAh, 14.4Wh.
- BZ1032 platform fit: The BZ1032 runs a 7.2V Ni-MH chemistry at this capacity tier. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry risks BMS handshake rejection or incorrect charge termination in the dock.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and transmit-load discharge on the BZ1032 platform. The BMS handled PTT-triggered current spikes without tripping into overcurrent lockout across repeated cycles.
- First insertion into the dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The BZ1032 charger requires a clean contact cycle to register the new pack and begin charge acceptance.
BZ1032 transmit cutout on a freshly inserted pack
Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically 1.0–1.1V per cell, which puts a six-cell 7.2V pack around 6.2–6.6V. The BZ1032 transmit circuit draws a sharp current spike the moment PTT is pressed. If the pack hasn't completed at least one full charge cycle, that spike can pull cell voltage below the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold, killing the transmission mid-press. Run a full charge before the first field use — not a partial top-up.
Bar indicator reads one bar fewer than expected after a full charge
The BZ1032 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar display — each bar corresponds to a voltage bracket, not a fuel-gauge calculation. A new Ni-MH pack fresh off the charger may read one bar low because cell voltage hasn't yet stabilised after charge termination. Rest the pack in the radio for 10–15 minutes post-charge before checking the indicator. After the first complete charge-discharge cycle, the resting voltage settles and the indicator reads correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
The dock fault LED stays on no matter how many times I reseat the BZ1032 battery — what's happening?
The dock's acceptance circuit checks for a minimum pack voltage before it starts charging. A new Ni-MH pack at storage voltage can sit below that threshold, so the dock refuses to initiate and holds the fault LED. Pull the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth, then reseat slowly and hold firm pressure for three seconds. If the LED clears and charge begins, the contact cycle completed — if not, the pack may need a compatible external Ni-MH charger to bring it above the dock's acceptance floor first.
My BZ1032 cuts out completely mid-transmission after several months of daily use — is the new pack doing the same thing?
Mid-transmission cutout under PTT is almost always a voltage sag issue, not a dead cell. During sustained RF output, the radio draws peak current; if internal cell impedance has risen — common in aged Ni-MH packs — voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold and the radio shuts off the transmit circuit. This new pack has fresh cells with lower impedance, so sag under transmit load is significantly reduced. If the symptom persists after a full charge cycle on the new pack, check the antenna connection — a high VSWR forces the PA to draw more current, compounding any sag.
The BZ1032 has been sitting unused for three months with this battery installed — now it won't power on at all.
Ni-MH cells self-discharge faster than Li-ion, and three months of standby in a radio can pull cell voltage deep enough that the BMS enters lockout to prevent further discharge damage. Don't press the power button repeatedly — that draws residual current and deepens the deficit. Place the pack in the charger dock and wait; if the dock shows a fault LED rather than a charge indicator, the pack is below the dock's recovery threshold. In that case, a standalone Ni-MH charger with a recovery or refresh mode can apply a low-current trickle to bring the pack back above 5.5V, after which the dock should accept it normally.
