Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Luiton LT-316 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1100mAh lithium-ion battery fits the Luiton LT-316 portable two-way radio. It restores power to handsets where the original cell has degraded or failed. Dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — confirm these against your existing pack before ordering.
- LT-316 platform fit: The LT-316 runs a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a direct contact strip on the rear housing. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the cell slots into the housing without modification to the door latch or contact pins.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through a full charge and a series of PTT-triggered transmit loads. The BMS held the output voltage steady through repeated transmit bursts and tripped correctly on an overcurrent fault simulation — no false lockouts during normal keying.
- First-insertion contact check: If the charger shows a fault LED or fails to begin charging after inserting this pack, remove it, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The LT-316 charger dock requires a clean contact cycle to accept the BMS handshake before charging will initiate.
LT-316 transmit cutout on a new battery — what's actually happening
A new lithium-ion cell ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.6–3.7V — not at full charge. When you key the PTT immediately after fitting an uncharged replacement, the transmit current spike can pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The radio cuts audio mid-transmission and may appear dead for a few seconds. This is a BMS protection event, not a fault with the pack. Fully charge the battery before first use on air to bring the cell above the 3.8V threshold where the BMS allows sustained transmit current.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after a full charge
The LT-316 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a voltage band, not a percentage from a fuel gauge chip. After a full charge cycle, the cell rests at around 4.1–4.2V open circuit. If the radio shows one bar fewer than the original pack did, the display is likely reading a slightly lower resting voltage caused by cell chemistry settling over the first few cycles. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and the resting voltage will stabilise. Check the bar count again at 4.15V or above — that should read as a full indicator on the LT-316 display.

Frequently Asked Questions
The LT-316 cuts out completely when I press PTT — new battery fitted but nothing comes out the speaker
This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the transmit current spike on an uncharged cell. A new pack ships at storage voltage, not full charge, and the BMS cuts the output before the radio can complete a transmission. Place the battery on charge until the dock shows a full indicator, then refit. The PTT cutout will stop once the cell is above 3.8V.
Charger dock shows a fault LED the moment I insert the new pack — it never shifts to charging
The dock is rejecting the BMS handshake, usually because the gold contact strip has residue or the cell voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold. Remove the battery, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the fault LED persists, the cell may be below the dock's minimum acceptance voltage — try a compatible external charger set to 3.7V Li-ion to bring the pack up to 3.6V before returning it to the dock.
Radio drops to noticeably weaker audio output mid-shift — battery bar still shows two or three bars
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output load, not a capacity failure. As the cell depletes toward the lower voltage bands, transmit current draws pull the instantaneous voltage below the level needed for full TX power, and the radio steps down output without triggering a full BMS cutoff. The bar indicator lags behind because it reads resting voltage between transmissions, not voltage under load. Swap to a freshly charged pack and confirm the radio returns to full output at above 3.9V resting.
