Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MeiZu Note 5 / M5 Note Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BA621)
The BA621 is a 3.85V, 4000mAh (15.4Wh) Li-Polymer cell that fits the MeiZu Note 5, M5 Note, M5 Note Dual SIM TD-LTE, M621M, and four additional variants in this line. It replaces the original internal battery when capacity fade or charge failure makes the phone unreliable. Dimensions are 82.10 × 62.60 × 4.45mm — match these before installing.
- M5 Note platform fit: These models share the same PCB connector pinout, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. The BA621 cell communicates with the fuel gauge IC on each variant without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the BA621 through charge and discharge cycles on the M5 Note platform. The BMS accepted charge current correctly, coulomb counter tracking stayed consistent, and no unexpected cutoff events occurred under screen and modem load.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes amps into an uncalibrated register.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BA621 replacement cell
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC mapped to 20–30% on the old cell, it signals low voltage before the actual charge is depleted. The phone shuts down to protect the SoC even though capacity remains. One full discharge cycle — run the phone to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell. After that cycle, reported percentage and actual voltage should align. Target a resting voltage of 3.85V at full charge to confirm calibration completed correctly.
USB fast charge not working on first cycle after cell swap
MeiZu's proprietary charge protocol handshake runs between the charge IC and the BMS on the new cell. On the first connection after a swap, the charge IC may default to standard 5V input while it confirms BMS compatibility — fast charge appears inactive or the indicator doesn't trigger. This is not a fault with the charger or cable. Complete one standard-current full charge first; the charge IC re-establishes the fast-charge handshake on the second connection. If fast charge still does not trigger after two cycles, check the cable — the protocol requires a cable rated for the charger's output current.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MeiZu M5 Note shows 25% then just turns off — is the BA621 faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC inside the phone is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve, so it signals shutdown at a voltage point that meant 25% on the worn original — but doesn't on the new BA621. Run the phone down to auto-shutdown, then charge it in one uninterrupted session to 100% at standard current. That full cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap against the new cell, and the shutdowns stop. Check the resting voltage reads around 3.85V at full charge to confirm the recalibration took.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while the BA621 is charging for the first time — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. On the first few charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into that higher-impedance cell, and the dissipated heat is noticeable. Warmth — not heat — is expected on cycles one through three. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC throttles back and slows charging to a crawl, remove it from the case to improve airflow and check that no third-party charger is exceeding the rated input voltage. By the third full cycle, impedance drops and the warmth should be gone.
After the phone sat in a drawer for months with the BA621 installed, it won't power on at all — even on charge.
If cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during extended storage, the BMS locks out to prevent damage and will not pass current to the phone's power rail. The phone appears completely dead and shows no charge indicator. Connect it to a known-good wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell at low current until voltage rises above the BMS re-enable threshold, then normal charging resumes. If no charge indicator appears after 45 minutes on a wall charger, the cell voltage dropped low enough that the BMS protection circuit has latched permanently and the cell needs replacing.
