Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DOOV A8 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PL-C30)
This is a 3.8V, 3000mAh (11.4Wh) Li-Polymer cell built to replace the original PL-C30 battery in the DOOV A8 smartphone. It fits directly into the A8 battery bay and connects to the same flex cable and charge IC. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power the phone through a normal day.
- DOOV A8 fit: The A8 uses a fixed connector pinout and a specific physical envelope — 85.20 × 66.90 × 3.20 mm. This cell matches both. The BMS handshake between the charge IC and this cell passes without error flags on the A8 board.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge runs on the A8 platform. The charge IC accepted the cell without thermal cutoff, and BMS protection thresholds engaged correctly at both high and low voltage limits.
- First-cycle fast charge disable: After installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging turned off. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to drift for days.
Why the DOOV A8 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The A8's fuel gauge IC builds its capacity model from coulomb counting against the previous cell's discharge curve. When you install a fresh cell, that stored model no longer matches the actual chemistry. The IC keeps applying the old curve, so the percentage it displays can read high or low by 10–20%. One full discharge to shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% forces the IC to recalibrate against the new cell. After that single cycle, the readings stabilise.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet learned the new cell's voltage-cliff profile. Under modem or screen load, cell voltage can drop sharply below the protection threshold before the displayed percentage reaches zero — the phone cuts out because actual cell voltage hits the BMS floor, not because the percentage says so. Run a full discharge cycle without interruption and let the phone shut down naturally. After one complete recalibration cycle, the gauge catches the voltage drop earlier and the premature shutdown stops. If it persists after two full cycles, check that cell voltage at rest reads above 3.7V with a meter at the flex connector.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DOOV A8 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
Most likely the cell drained below 2.5V in storage and the BMS locked out to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC on the A8 runs a trickle pre-charge routine that slowly brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage climbs above roughly 3.0V, the BMS re-enables full charging and the phone will power on normally.
Fast charging stopped working on my DOOV A8 after I swapped to this battery — the phone only trickle charges now.
On the first charge cycle after a cell replacement, the A8's charge IC defaults to a lower current rate while it verifies the new cell's internal resistance. This is a built-in safety behaviour, not a fault. Complete one full charge to 100% at the slow rate, then unplug and discharge the phone through normal use before plugging in again. On the second cycle, fast charging re-engages once the IC confirms the cell is stable.
The DOOV A8 feels warm near the battery while charging — is something wrong with the new cell?
Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell is normal. A fresh cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates a small amount of extra heat until impedance settles after two or three cycles. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or the charger brick also runs very hot, stop charging and check that you're using the original A8 charger — a mismatched charge voltage can cause the IC to overwork the cell. With the correct charger, warmth should reduce noticeably by the third full charge cycle.
