Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Meilan Note 5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This is a 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Meilan Note 5 smartphone. It slots into the Note 5 to restore power capacity when the original cell has degraded. Capacity is 15.4Wh, matching the factory specification.
- Note 5 cell compatibility: The Note 5 uses a fixed 3.85V Li-Polymer cell with a specific footprint — 82.10 x 62.60 x 4.45mm. That physical profile determines connector placement and BMS pin alignment. Any cell outside those tolerances will not seat correctly against the charge IC board.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Note 5 platform. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes, and the charge IC stepped through its CC-CV profile without thermal events at full 4000mAh load.
- First-cycle calibration tip: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes load into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Note 5 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. A fresh 4000mAh cell has a steeper voltage cliff under modem and display load than a worn cell. When the phone demands current during LTE activity or screen-on, the new cell's terminal voltage drops below the shutdown threshold faster than the IC expects — so the phone cuts out even though the reported percentage looks safe. Running one full discharge to 3.40V and a full charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and corrects the curve. After that cycle, the shutdown behaviour normalises.
Device not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and below roughly 2.5V per cell the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage. A cell in lockout will not respond to a normal charger — the phone shows nothing on screen. To recover it, connect the phone to a 5V charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell from lockout back above the 2.9V recovery threshold. Once the BMS exits lockout, a normal boot becomes possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Meilan Note 5 show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to your old, degraded cell — it has no data for the new 4000mAh cell's voltage profile yet. Until it learns the new curve, the reported percentage drifts, often reading higher than actual capacity under load. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets and percentage accuracy corrects itself.
Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in the phone after swapping the battery — what's wrong?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs on the Note 5 platform fall back to standard 5V charging while the BMS completes its initialisation handshake with the new cell. This is not a fault — it is the IC protecting an uncalibrated cell from high-current input. Let the phone complete one full standard charge to 100%, then unplug and reconnect. On the second cycle, the fast-charge protocol renegotiates normally.
The phone feels warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is that a problem with the replacement cell?
A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell generates slightly more heat during the constant-current phase of charging than a broken-in cell does. On the Note 5, this typically resolves after two or three full charge cycles as internal resistance drops. If the warmth is concentrated at the battery cover and not the USB port, it is the cell normalising — not a charge IC fault. If the phone remains warm past the third full cycle, check that the battery cover sits flush with no gap that could indicate a swollen cell.
