Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM4A)
This is a 3.85V, 4000mAh (15.4Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Xiaomi Redmi Pro smartphone. It fits model numbers 2016020 and 2016021 — the two hardware revisions Xiaomi released under the Redmi Pro line. It replaces the original BM4A cell when capacity has degraded or the battery no longer holds a charge.
- Redmi Pro 2016020 and 2016021 compatibility: Both revisions use the same 3.85V rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both because the fuel gauge IC and charge controller are shared across the two board runs.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Redmi Pro charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake on first connection. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without false positives at mid-cycle.
- First-cycle fast charge hold-off: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle on standard 5V/1A input. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge controller pushes higher current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Redmi Pro after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. Under modem activity or screen-on load, the new cell momentarily drops below the shutdown threshold the OS is watching — even though the fuel gauge still shows 20–30%. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and doesn't yet know where the new cell's voltage cliff sits. One full discharge to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge without interruption, resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most cliff shutdowns.
OS reporting wrong battery percentage after replacement
The Redmi Pro's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so percentage readings drift — often reading 100% for too long, then dropping fast. This is not a defect in the replacement cell. Force a full discharge to shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the phone. After one complete cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates against the new cell and percentage accuracy returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Redmi Pro won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage — is the cell dead?
The BM4A's protection circuit locks out below approximately 2.5V per cell, which can happen if the battery discharged fully during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS unlocks and allows normal charging to resume. If the charge indicator still doesn't appear after 45 minutes on a wall adapter, check that the battery connector is fully seated on the board.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the new BM4A — the phone only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the Redmi Pro's charge controller sometimes falls back to standard 5V/1A input because the USB-PD or proprietary fast charge handshake hasn't been confirmed against the new BMS yet. Complete one full charge at slow speed, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — fast charge typically re-enables on the second connection once the controller has a confirmed charge cycle logged. If it still doesn't kick in, check the cable: the fast charge handshake requires a cable rated for the current, not a generic data cable.
The Redmi Pro feels warm near the battery area during the first few charges — is something wrong?
Mild warmth during early charging cycles on a new cell is normal. A fresh high-impedance Li-Polymer cell generates slightly more heat during charging than a broken-in cell because internal resistance is higher before the first few cycles condition the chemistry. As long as the phone remains warm — not hot — and the temperature settles after a few charges, no action is needed. If the back of the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and confirm the charge IC is not stuck in a fast charge loop by disabling fast charging in settings and retrying.
