Fits Mitsubishi Trium, GEO, Astral, and Galaxy models—replaces OEM part numbers 3HR-5/3AAAU, BW-14091420, and FZA-0001A directly.
This 3.6V Ni-MH cell delivers 900mAh capacity, restoring full call and standby time to early 2000s handsets that depended on this chemistry.
Connector orientation matches original—slides into the battery slot with the contact pins aligned toward the phone's spring terminals; no modification needed.
We tested this cell on a Trium unit bench; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new pack after a clean contact cycle and held voltage stable through a full discharge curve.
On first use after installation, run one complete charge-discharge cycle without interruption—this recalibrates the phone's battery percentage display against the new Ni-MH discharge slope before normal use.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mitsubishi Trium / GEO / Astral Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (3HR-5/3AAAU)

This is a 3.6V, 900mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Mitsubishi Trium, GEO, Astral, Galaxy, and compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers 3HR-5/3AAAU, BW-14091420, and FZA-0001A. The cell fits the battery bay directly and restores the phone's ability to power up, hold a call, and run basic functions.

  • Trium platform compatibility: The Trium, GEO, Astral, and Galaxy share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack format and connector pinout. All models on this list draw from the same voltage rail and accept the same mechanical form factor — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a Trium handset. The charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags, and voltage held steady under active call load across multiple cycles.
  • Ni-MH first-cycle conditioning: Unlike Li-ion, this Ni-MH cell benefits from a slow first charge at the phone's standard rate — avoid using an external rapid charger on the first cycle. This lets the cell reach full capacity and prevents early memory effect from an incomplete initial charge.

Why the Trium reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Trium's fuel gauge IC builds its discharge curve against the original cell's internal resistance and capacity profile. A new cell has a different impedance, so the gauge reads the voltage incorrectly and reports inaccurate percentages from the first charge. This corrects itself after one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After that cycle, the gauge recalibrates its reference points against the new cell's actual curve.

Phone shuts down suddenly at 20–30% on the replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a steeper voltage drop curve at lower states of charge compared to Li-ion. When the Trium's modem fires during a call or SMS send, the current draw causes a brief voltage sag — if the cell is below roughly 30% capacity, that sag can cross the shutdown threshold before the gauge registers it. This is not a faulty cell; it means the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage cliff. Run one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle and recharge to 100% — the cutoff behaviour will stabilise at 3.6V nominal.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone powers on but shuts off mid-call or when sending a text — is this a bad cell?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a defective cell. Ni-MH cells drop voltage sharply under the brief high-current burst from the modem during a call or SMS send. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped the new cell's discharge curve yet, it can't predict that sag — so the phone hits the shutdown threshold without warning. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the cutoff behaviour will stabilise.

After fitting the new battery, the percentage jumps around — shows 80%, then drops to 40% a few minutes later. What's happening?

The fuel gauge IC on the Trium is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. A new Ni-MH cell has different internal resistance, so the voltage readings the gauge sees don't match its stored reference points — erratic percentage jumps are the result. This resolves after one complete cycle: drain the phone to auto-shutoff, then charge fully without interruption. The IC rebuilds its curve against the new cell on that cycle.

The phone sat in a drawer for months with the new battery installed and now won't power on at all.

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at a higher rate than Li-ion — roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. After months in storage, the cell is likely deeply discharged. Connect the phone to its original wall charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into a deeply discharged Ni-MH pack before it can register a recoverable voltage. If the phone still won't respond, check that the charger output is confirmed at 5V before replacing the cell.
