Fits AudioVox SMT5700 smartphone; replaces OEM battery part number BTE5700.
3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell powers calls, messaging, and apps on the SMT5700 platform.
Connector seats flat into the original battery slot with no locking tab required.
We cycled this cell on an SMT5700 bench unit; BMS accepted charge current without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AudioVox SMT5700 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTE5700)

This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 2200mAh (8.14Wh), built to the BTE5700 spec. It fits the AudioVox SMT5700 and SMT-5700 smartphones. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds a charge or fails to power on.

  • SMT5700 and SMT-5700 compatibility: Both model designations reference the same hardware platform — identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One cell fits both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the BTE5700 through charge and discharge cycles on the SMT5700 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC cycled cleanly through trickle, CC, and CV phases.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On the first full cycle after installation, disable fast charging if your charger supports it. This gives the fuel gauge IC one clean discharge-charge pass to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load before the percentage counter reaches zero. The phone sees a valid state-of-charge reading right up until the voltage drops below what the load can sustain. Run one full discharge to near shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — the coulomb counter resets against the new cell after that cycle.

Phone reports wrong battery percentage after cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a charge model built from the old cell's internal resistance and capacity. A new cell has different impedance, so the IC's estimates drift immediately. Percentages may jump erratically or read higher than actual charge for the first few cycles. Let the phone discharge to auto-shutdown once, then charge to 100% without interruption — the IC recalibrates its model against actual cell voltage at 3.0V cutoff and 4.2V full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AudioVox SMT5700 shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the SMT5700 is still running a charge model calibrated to the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or display load, the phone cuts out before the counter reaches zero. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown and a full uninterrupted charge to 100% — the coulomb counter resets and the shutdowns stop.

Fast charging isn't working on the first charge after I installed the BTE5700 — the phone only trickle charges.

Some charge controllers won't handshake a fast-charge protocol with an uncalibrated cell on the first cycle. The BMS presents as a new cell with an unknown state-of-charge, so the IC defaults to trickle current as a precaution. Let that first charge complete fully at standard rate. On the second cycle, fast charging typically negotiates normally once the BMS has established a baseline charge history.

The SMT5700 gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a cell that has been through several cycles. The charge IC pushes the same current into higher resistance, which generates more heat in the first few charges. Warmth — not hot to the touch — is expected in that break-in window. If the phone becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop the charge and check that the replacement cell is seated flat with no pressure on the connector; a misaligned contact raises resistance further.
