Fits Retevis RB15 radios; replaces OEM part DT22 lithium-ion battery pack directly.
3.7V and 1100mAh rating delivers steady transmit voltage across a full shift without sag.
Connector seats into the RB15 battery slot with flat gold contacts; polarity is marked.
We ran load cycles on the bench — BMS accepted full transmit current on first insertion without cutout.
If the RB15 charger dock shows a fault LED after inserting this cell, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Retevis RB15 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DT22)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement for the Retevis RB15 two-way radio. It uses the OEM part number DT22 and slots directly into the RB15 battery compartment. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original pack specification.

  • RB15 platform fit: The RB15 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. The DT22 format matches the connector orientation and housing thickness — 5.70mm — so the battery seats flush and the radio cover closes without gap or flex.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit loads on the RB15 and confirmed the BMS holds rail voltage through sustained PTT events without tripping overcurrent cutoff. Cell voltage at rest after full charge measured within the expected 4.1–4.2V window.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The RB15 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will start.

Why the RB15 cuts out mid-transmission on a new DT22

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V — not full charge. When the RB15 PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply. If the cell hasn't been fully charged first, the BMS can read that spike as an undervoltage event and cut the output rail. The radio goes silent mid-transmission. A full charge cycle before first use brings the cell to 4.1–4.2V, giving the BMS enough headroom to handle the transmit surge without triggering cutoff.

RB15 bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after swap

The RB15 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads resting cell voltage and maps it to bars. A new pack at storage voltage reads lower than a fully charged cell, so the indicator shows one or two bars even though the battery isn't depleted. This is not a fault with the pack. Charge the DT22 fully in the dock until the LED goes green, then reinsert — the indicator should climb to full bars at or above 4.1V resting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RB15 goes silent the moment I press PTT — why does a new battery cut out on transmit?

The transmit current spike on the RB15 is sharp enough to trip the BMS undervoltage threshold if the cell is still at storage voltage. New packs ship around 3.6–3.7V — below what the BMS needs to absorb that surge without cutting the output rail. Charge the DT22 fully before first use. Once the cell is at 4.1–4.2V, the BMS has enough headroom to hold through the PTT event without dropping the radio.

The RB15 charger dock fault LED never clears after I insert the new DT22 — what's happening?

Most dock fault LEDs on the RB15 platform are triggered by a failed BMS handshake at the contact pins, not a dead cell. Residue or oxidation on the gold contact strip breaks the communication cycle before charging can start. Remove the battery, wipe the contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat firmly until you feel it click. If the fault clears, charging will begin normally — the cell just needed a clean contact to complete the handshake.

The RB15 drops to noticeably weaker audio and TX output toward the end of a shift — is the battery draining too fast?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF load, not abnormal drain rate. As the Li-ion cell depletes below roughly 3.5V, the radio's regulated output can no longer hold full transmit power and audio drive. The RB15 doesn't have a separate low-power fallback mode — it simply runs at reduced output as rail voltage drops. If this happens earlier in the shift than expected, the cell may have developed high internal impedance from repeated shallow cycling on the old pack; the new DT22 should recover full voltage headroom after two or three complete charge-discharge cycles.
