Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nedis WLTK1010BK — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the factory pack in the Nedis WLTK1010BK two-way radio. It fits the slim battery bay on this PMR446 handheld and restores transmit and standby capability. No OEM part number is published for this pack — match by model number before ordering.
- WLTK1010BK platform fit: The WLTK1010BK runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. The replacement cell must match that voltage rail exactly — a mismatched nominal voltage trips the radio's low-voltage protection and prevents transmit even if the dock shows charging.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through transmit bursts at PMR446 output levels and monitored BMS response. The protection circuit held cutoff cleanly at the low-voltage threshold and recovered without latching on return to dock voltage.
- First-insertion contact cycle on the WLTK1010BK dock: The WLTK1010BK dock reads the pack via its contact strip before accepting a charge cycle. If the dock LED blinks fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact pads with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — this clears any oxidation gap that blocks the initial BMS handshake.
PTT transmit spike and BMS overcurrent on the WLTK1010BK
Pressing PTT on a PMR446 radio draws a sharp current spike in the first milliseconds of transmission. A new cell at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — has slightly higher internal impedance than a fully charged cell at 4.1V. If the BMS detects that spike as an overcurrent event, it cuts the output rail instantly. The radio goes silent mid-key. Charge the pack fully to 4.2V before the first transmit session and the impedance drops enough to keep the BMS within its trip threshold.
Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting new pack
The WLTK1010BK uses voltage-threshold bar indicators — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a fuel gauge reading. A new pack shipped at storage voltage of roughly 3.6V will display one or two bars even though the cell is not depleted. This is normal. Dock the radio and charge to full before reading the indicator — at 4.1V the display will show maximum bars and the reading will be stable across shifts.

Frequently Asked Questions
My WLTK1010BK cuts out completely the moment I press PTT — is the new battery faulty?
Almost certainly not. PTT draws a sharp current spike, and a new cell at storage voltage has enough internal impedance to trip the BMS overcurrent threshold before transmission starts. Dock the radio and charge the pack fully to 4.2V before using it. After a full charge cycle the impedance drops and the BMS holds cleanly through transmit bursts.
The WLTK1010BK charger dock is blinking a fault LED and won't start charging the new pack — what's wrong?
The dock reads the pack voltage through the contact strip before it accepts a charge cycle. If the contacts have any oxidation or dust gap, the handshake fails and the dock shows fault. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact pads on both the battery and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat the pack firmly. If the cell has dropped below the dock's acceptance threshold from extended storage, hold the pack in the dock for 60 seconds — most docks will begin a trickle pre-charge once contact is confirmed.
The WLTK1010BK radio drops to weak audio and low transmit power partway through a long session — is the cell going flat too fast?
This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a capacity fault. When the cell voltage drops under extended transmit load — particularly in warm conditions — the radio's low-voltage protection reduces TX power to protect the pack. Remove the battery, let it cool for five minutes, and recheck the bar indicator. If it recovers to two or more bars after cooling, the cell is fine; the sag was thermal. If bars stay at one after cooling, the cell is genuinely low and needs a full dock charge back to 4.2V.
