Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Allegretto 5300 / PDR-5300 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (084-07042L-066)
This 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Toshiba Allegretto 5300, PDR-5300, PDR-T20, PDR-T30, and over 20 additional Toshiba point-and-shoot models. It matches the OEM voltage, capacity, and physical footprint at 53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm. Cross-references include 084-07042L-012, PDR-BT3, PX1425E-1BRS, and PA3792U.
- Allegretto 5300 / PDR-T series compatibility: These models share the same voltage rail, battery bay dimensions, and BMS communication protocol — one cell format covers the full lineup without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on camera hardware. The BMS accepted the cell, voltage held steady through normal photo capture, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- First-use charge cycle tip: On first install, run one full charge inside the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some Toshiba BMS firmware maps battery-remaining display to a reference charge curve — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately from the start.
Why the Allegretto 5300 battery indicator drops suddenly near the end of a charge
Li-ion cells discharge along a voltage curve that stays relatively flat through most of the cycle, then drops steeply below 3.5V. The Allegretto 5300's BMS maps that voltage curve to a percentage scale. A replacement cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile can cause the indicator to appear stable, then fall fast in the final stretch. This is a display mapping issue, not a cell fault. One full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera usually lets the BMS recalibrate its reference points.
Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new cell
The flash capacitor draws a significant burst of current each time it recharges — higher than the sustained draw during normal shooting. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated, voltage sags during that recharge burst and the capacitor doesn't reach full charge before the next shot. On a new replacement cell this can happen briefly while the cell conditions through early cycles. If recycle lag persists after five or six charge cycles, check the contact pins in the battery bay for corrosion or debris. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth and confirm the cell is seated flush at 3.7V before shooting.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Allegretto 5300 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I insert this new replacement — is the cell dead on arrival?
Almost certainly not. The Toshiba PDR-series BMS can reject an unrecognised cell on first install and display a dead battery icon before it has run a charge handshake. Remove the cell, reinsert it, then charge to full inside the camera body or OEM charger without interrupting the cycle. After one complete charge from the camera body, most units accept the replacement and display correctly.
My shot count is noticeably lower than what I was getting with the original battery — why?
Flash recycling, continuous autofocus, and display brightness are the main draw sources the rated capacity doesn't fully account for under real shooting conditions. If your sessions involve frequent flash use or continuous AF tracking, draw will exceed what a standard shot-count estimate assumes. Try shooting in single-shot AF mode with display brightness reduced one step — that combination cuts current draw enough to extend a session meaningfully without changing your workflow.
The battery percentage on the 5300 jumps around erratically — it reads 60%, drops to 20%, then climbs back up mid-shoot.
This is a BMS calibration mismatch. The camera's indicator firmware was calibrated against the original cell's specific discharge curve and internal resistance profile. A new cell with slightly different characteristics can cause the voltage-to-percentage mapping to behave erratically until the BMS re-references itself. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles — charge to full, shoot until the camera shuts down on its own low-voltage cutoff, then recharge fully. By the third cycle the indicator typically stabilises.
