This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion battery for JAY-tech JayCam compact digital cameras. It fits the DC5890, DC6000, DC6025, DC7000, and 16 additional models in the same family. Physical dimensions are 53.20 × 35.30 × 7.10mm — measure your original cell before ordering if you're unsure.

  • JayCam DC-series compatibility: These camera models share the same cell format, connector pinout, and 3.7V voltage rail. The BMS communication protocol is consistent across the DC5890 through DC7000 range, so one cell covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on JayCam-compatible test rigs. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, and voltage held stable across both photo burst and sustained video recording draw.
  • First-cycle charging on compact camera bodies: On first install, run a full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some JAY-tech camera BMS systems need one complete charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display to the new cell's discharge curve.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new cell

The DC5890's flash capacitor draws a sharp current spike to recharge between shots. If the cell voltage sags during that spike — common when a cell hasn't been through its first full cycle — recycle time stretches noticeably. This isn't a faulty battery. One full charge-discharge cycle normalises internal resistance and brings capacitor recharge current back to spec. After that cycle, flash recycling should match the original cell's speed.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the display

The JayCam body maps its battery indicator to voltage thresholds calibrated for the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell follows a slightly different curve out of the box, so the indicator can skip or stall at certain percentages. This is a BMS mapping issue, not a capacity problem. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body and the indicator will stabilise to the new cell's actual curve.

My JayCam DC5890 shows a dead battery icon immediately after I put in the new cell — is the battery faulty?

It's almost always a BMS authentication issue, not a bad cell. The camera didn't recognise the new cell because it hasn't completed a charge handshake yet. Place the battery in the camera, connect to the charger, and run one full charge cycle without interrupting it. After that cycle, power the camera on and the icon should clear.

The shot count on my DC6000 dropped way below what I expected — the battery seems to drain too fast.

Flash recharge, continuous autofocus, and sustained LCD use all pull current well beyond what still-frame spec counts assume. If you're shooting with flash enabled on every shot or recording video, draw increases significantly and shot count falls accordingly. Check whether flash is set to auto-fire and disable it when shooting in daylight. If drain still seems abnormal after two full cycles, confirm cell voltage reads at or above 4.1V immediately off a full charge.

The battery percentage on my JayCam DC7000 jumps from 60% straight to 10% without warning — why?

The camera's indicator is reading voltage thresholds, not actual charge remaining, and a new cell's discharge curve doesn't perfectly match the factory-calibrated thresholds. This causes the display to skip past percentages where voltage drops faster on the new cell. Run two full charge-discharge cycles inside the camera body to let the BMS map the new discharge curve. The percentage steps will stabilise after those cycles are complete.
