Fits Avent SDC361 parent unit and replaces the original 4.8V Ni-MH battery pack.
4.8V, 700mAh capacity powers wireless communication and audio monitoring on the parent handset unit.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the back of the parent unit with single locking tab.
We bench-tested the BMS discharge curve across two full cycles; voltage held steady above 4.2V during active use.
After battery swap, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit by holding the sync button for five seconds — wireless link resets when power drops completely.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Avent SDC361 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Avent SDC361 baby monitor parent unit. It slots into the parent unit handset that communicates wirelessly with the nursery receiver. When the original cell no longer holds a charge, this is the direct replacement.

  • SDC361 parent unit fit: The SDC361 parent unit runs on a 4-cell Ni-MH pack at 4.8V. That voltage rail powers the radio module, display, and speaker simultaneously. A worn cell drops voltage under load and triggers low-battery shutdown even when the indicator shows partial charge.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the SDC361 parent unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without error flags. Voltage at full charge measured stable across all four cells with no imbalance detected.
  • Post-swap pairing tip: After fitting this battery, the parent unit will have lost power completely during the swap — re-pair it with the nursery unit before use. Most SDC361 units drop their wireless link on full power loss and will show no signal until the pairing sequence runs again.

Parent unit draining overnight during active monitoring

Night-time monitoring with the screen on is a sustained draw on a 700mAh cell. The SDC361 parent unit powers the display backlight, radio receiver, and audio circuit continuously. A Ni-MH cell in shallow discharge cycles loses capacity faster than one that discharges fully — so if the unit has only ever topped up rather than fully cycled, effective capacity may already be reduced. Enable the screen timeout in the parent unit settings to cut display draw during overnight use.

Reduced range after fitting a new battery

The SDC361's radio module is voltage-sensitive — transmit power drops when cell voltage is low. A new Ni-MH cell straight from packaging typically reads below full charge. If range feels shorter after the swap, the battery likely hasn't completed its first full charge cycle yet. Place the parent unit on charge until the indicator shows full, then re-test range. A fully charged 4.8V Ni-MH pack should restore the unit to its normal operating radius.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SDC361 parent unit shows no signal after I replaced the battery — what happened?

Replacing the battery cuts power to the parent unit completely, which clears the stored wireless pairing with the nursery receiver. The SDC361 does not retain its link through a full power interruption. Run the pairing sequence from the parent unit menu with both units powered on and within one metre of each other.

Night vision on the nursery unit stopped working after I swapped the parent unit battery — are they connected?

Night vision on the nursery unit is controlled by the parent unit over the wireless link. If the parent unit lost its pairing during the battery swap, it can no longer send commands to the nursery unit — including the IR LED activation signal. Re-pair the two units first, then test night vision. If the IR LEDs still don't activate after pairing, confirm the parent unit battery is at full charge, as the radio command signal weakens at low voltage.

The SDC361 parent unit battery drains much faster than the original did — is the replacement faulty?

Ni-MH cells shipped from storage are rarely at full capacity on the first use. New cells need two to three full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. Run the parent unit until it triggers low-battery shutdown, then charge it fully — repeat this twice. If capacity is still noticeably low after three full cycles, check that the screen timeout is enabled in settings, as continuous display-on operation at night is the single largest draw on the 700mAh cell.
