Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HelloBaby HB40 / HB50 / HB6351 Monitor — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB605060)

This 3.7V 2500mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM AHB605060 cell in the parent unit of the HelloBaby HB40, HB50, and HB6351 baby monitor systems. It powers the handheld display that receives wireless audio and video from the nursery camera. Capacity matches the original: 2500mAh / 9.25Wh.

  • HB40, HB50, and HB6351 compatibility: All three models share the same parent unit housing and draw from the same 3.7V single-cell architecture. The AHB605060 part number covers all three because the connector pinout, BMS voltage thresholds, and physical footprint — 60.60 × 50.00 × 6.20mm — are identical across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the parent unit PCB. The BMS accepted charge termination at 4.2V without fault flags. Discharge cutoff triggered correctly before the screen dimmed — no unexpected shutdowns during testing.
  • Re-pair the wireless link after installation: Baby monitor parent units lose their stored camera pairing when the battery is fully removed. After fitting this battery, power on the parent unit and follow the HelloBaby manual pairing sequence — typically holding the pair button on the camera unit until the parent unit confirms signal lock.

Parent unit not connecting to camera unit after battery swap

Swapping the battery cuts all power to the parent unit, which clears the active wireless session with the camera. The HB40 series does not store pairing state in non-volatile memory on the parent unit side — it re-establishes the link at boot from a live handshake. Power both units on, then press and hold the pair button on the camera unit until the parent display shows the video feed. If the link fails on first attempt, move the units within one metre of each other and retry.

Night vision feed drops or goes dark shortly after battery replacement

The IR LEDs on the camera unit pull more current at night, and that load is sensitive to the parent unit's receive radio staying stable — but the more common cause is the new battery arriving partially discharged from storage. If night vision drops within the first hour of use, the cell voltage has likely sagged below the threshold the radio module needs to maintain a clean signal lock. Charge the parent unit to 100% before the first overnight session. A full charge brings the cell to 4.2V and gives the radio enough headroom to hold the IR-mode data stream.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HelloBaby parent unit shows full bars but the screen goes blank after a few hours overnight — why?

Running the parent unit with the screen active all night is a sustained draw the original battery handles poorly once it degrades, and a new cell at partial charge shows the same behaviour early on. The screen-on state pulls significantly more current than audio-only mode. Charge the unit fully before each overnight session and enable the screen timeout setting in the menu — most HB40 series units allow the display to sleep after 30 or 60 seconds while audio monitoring continues. This alone reduces the draw enough to last a full night.

The range between the parent unit and camera is noticeably shorter after I fitted the new battery — is that normal?

Yes, temporarily. The radio transmitter in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive — at lower cell voltages the output power drops, which compresses range. A new battery shipped from storage can sit at 3.6V or lower, which is enough to power the screen but not enough for full radio output. Charge the parent unit completely before testing range. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the radio operates at its rated output and range returns to normal.

The parent unit won't turn on at all after I installed the replacement battery — what do I check first?

The most likely cause is a deeply discharged cell that the BMS has locked out to prevent damage. Connect the parent unit to its charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs a trickle charge to exit lockout before it allows normal operation. If the charge LED does not light within a few minutes of connecting, check that the battery connector is fully seated on the PCB; the AHB605060 connector can sit slightly proud if the ribbon isn't pressed flat. Re-seat the connector and reconnect the charger.
