Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HelloBaby HB31 / HB66 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB523450)

This 3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces part number AHB523450 in the HelloBaby parent unit. It fits the HB31, HB6231, HB6233, and HB66 monitor series. When the original cell no longer holds a charge, the parent unit loses all wireless monitoring capability until the battery is swapped.

  • HB31 / HB66 series compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and AHB523450 form factor. The connector, cell dimensions (51.50 × 33.80 × 5.30mm), and protection circuit footprint are identical across the range — one cell fits all four units listed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the HB31 parent unit. The battery management circuit accepted the cell without error, held stable voltage under sustained screen-on and radio-transmit load, and logged capacity within spec at 1000mAh.
  • Re-pair after battery swap: After replacing the battery, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit. HelloBaby monitors lose their stored wireless link when the parent unit is fully powered down — which a dead or removed battery causes. Hold the pairing button on the camera unit until the parent screen shows the live feed.

Parent unit not connecting to camera unit after battery swap

The HB31 and HB66 parent units store the camera pairing data in volatile memory backed by the main battery. When the battery is fully drained or physically removed, that pairing data is lost. Inserting a fresh cell does not restore the link automatically — the radio module boots without a target camera address. To fix this, press and hold the pairing button on the camera unit until the parent unit detects and locks onto the signal, then confirm the link at the parent unit. If the parent unit still shows no signal, charge it to at least 3.9V before attempting to pair — the radio transmitter draws more current during pairing than during normal standby.

Night vision not working after battery replacement

The infrared LED array on the camera unit pulls a short, sharp current spike when switching from daylight to night-vision mode. If the parent unit battery is low — even if the unit appears to be on — the voltage drop across the cell can cause the camera to reset or fail to trigger IR mode at all. This is not a camera fault. Charge the parent unit fully before testing night vision. A rested cell at full charge sits at approximately 4.2V; night-vision switching becomes stable above 3.9V on this cell chemistry.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HelloBaby parent unit drains overnight even when I'm not actively watching — is the new battery faulty?

The parent unit screen staying on through the night is the most common cause of fast drain on this 1000mAh cell — it is a sustained high draw that the cell was not sized to support indefinitely. Enable the screen timeout or auto-off function in the monitor's display settings so the screen cuts out when no motion or sound is detected. The radio receiver stays active in the background even with the screen off, so monitoring continues. If drain persists with screen timeout on, check that VOX (sound-activated display) sensitivity is not set so high that ambient noise keeps waking the screen all night.

The range on my HelloBaby parent unit dropped noticeably after I put in the new battery — it used to reach further in the house.

The radio transmitter in the HB31 and HB66 series is voltage-sensitive — at lower cell voltages, output power is reduced and effective range shortens. A new cell shipped in storage is typically at 3.6–3.7V, which is below its full-charge peak of 4.2V. Charge the parent unit fully before testing range. If range is still short after a complete charge cycle, check that the parent unit antenna (internal, along the top edge of the unit) is not obstructed by a case or holder — physical contact with metal surfaces can attenuate signal significantly.

My HelloBaby monitor shows a battery icon but won't turn on after I installed the replacement battery.

This usually means the battery management circuit entered a low-voltage lockout state during shipping storage and needs a slow pre-charge pulse to recover. Connect the parent unit to its original charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the BMS will trickle-charge the cell back above the minimum threshold (around 3.0V) before allowing normal boot. If the unit still will not power on after that period, check the battery connector is fully seated — the AHB523450 connector can appear plugged in while one pin remains unseated, which the BMS reads as no cell present.
