Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HelloBaby HB6081 / HB6256 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB606090)

This is a 3.7V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery that replaces part number AHB606090. It fits the HelloBaby HB6081 Video Baby Monitor and the HB6256 2.4GHz Digital Wireless Video Baby Monitor. Both models use the same parent unit battery slot, voltage rail, and connector orientation.

  • HB6081 and HB6256 parent unit fit: Both monitors share the same parent unit housing and battery bay dimensions. The AHB606090 cell is 91.00 × 59.70 × 5.80mm — matching the original footprint so the back cover closes flush without force.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the parent unit. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted a full charge without triggering thermal interrupts.
  • Re-pair the parent unit after battery swap: Baby monitors lose their wireless link when the parent unit drops to zero voltage. After fitting this battery and charging, manually re-pair the parent unit to the camera unit using the pairing button sequence in your HB6081 or HB6256 manual — the camera will not reconnect automatically.

Parent unit not connecting to camera unit after battery swap

When the parent unit's battery is fully depleted or physically removed, the wireless pairing data stored in volatile memory is lost. The unit powers back on but no longer recognises the camera channel it was paired to. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is how the HB6081 and HB6256 handle a complete power interruption. Press and hold the pairing button on the camera unit, then initiate pairing from the parent unit menu — the link restores within seconds.

Parent unit battery draining overnight with screen on

Running the parent unit with the display active all night is a sustained draw on the cell — the backlit LCD and the 2.4GHz receiver together pull significantly more current than audio-only mode. A depleted original battery may have masked how much the screen contributes to overnight drain. Enable the screen timeout or VOX mode in the parent unit settings so the display shuts off between alerts. This alone reduces overnight draw and the cell will still be charged in the morning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Night vision stopped working after I put the new battery in — what's wrong?

The IR LEDs that power night vision on the camera unit draw more current at lower voltages and can appear dead if the parent unit's receiver is not yet fully charged and negotiating signal correctly. First, charge the parent unit to 100% before testing night vision — IR performance is voltage-sensitive. If night vision still fails, check that the camera unit itself has power and is within range, then toggle night vision off and back on from the parent unit menu.

The range on the parent unit seems much shorter than it used to be — is the new battery faulty?

Range on 2.4GHz digital baby monitors is directly tied to the voltage the radio module receives. A new cell that has not been fully charged yet will supply lower voltage, which reduces transmit power and shortens usable range. Charge the parent unit completely before judging range — we saw this on the bench, where a partially charged cell produced noticeably weaker signal. Once fully charged, range should match or exceed what the original battery provided.

My HB6081 parent unit shows a charging icon but the battery percentage won't go above 1% — is something wrong with the battery?

This is usually the BMS re-initialising after a deep discharge, not a faulty cell. If the original battery drained to zero and stayed there for weeks, the replacement cell's BMS may need a slow conditioning charge before the fuel gauge reads correctly. Leave the parent unit on charge uninterrupted for at least three hours without powering it on. After a full uninterrupted charge cycle, the percentage should stabilise and read accurately.
