Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola MBP11 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BY1131)

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Motorola MBP11 baby monitor parent unit. It uses OEM part number BY1131 and fits the portable handset directly. When the original cell degrades and the parent unit stops holding charge, this replaces it like-for-like.

  • MBP11 parent unit fit: The MBP11 handset runs on a single Ni-MH cell at 2.4V. The BY1131 matches the voltage rail, physical footprint (30.60 × 21.50 × 10.80mm), and connector orientation the parent unit expects. No cell chemistry conversion — Ni-MH to Ni-MH throughout.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the MBP11 parent unit. The onboard charging circuit accepted the cell without issue and the BMS reached full charge without fault flags.
  • First charge after fitting: Place the parent unit on its charging cradle immediately after fitting the new cell and leave it until the charge indicator clears. Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged — the monitor's low-voltage cutoff can trigger before the unit has had a chance to function if you skip this step.

Parent unit not connecting to the camera unit after battery swap

Replacing the battery in the MBP11 parent unit causes a full power interruption. That clears the active wireless link between the handset and the camera unit. The monitor does not automatically re-establish the connection on power-up — it waits for a manual pairing sequence. Hold the pair button on the camera unit, then initiate the scan from the parent unit menu. Once paired, the link persists through normal on/off cycles as long as the battery does not fully discharge again.

Range dropping or signal cutting out after fitting a new battery

The MBP11's radio transmitter draws from the same 2.4V cell that powers the display and speaker. At low state of charge, the voltage sags and the radio operates below its rated output — range shrinks noticeably before the low-battery warning appears. If range feels shorter than it was with the original battery, the new cell may not be fully charged yet. Put the parent unit back on the cradle and charge to full before testing range. A fully charged BY1131 at 2.4V restores the transmitter to rated power.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MBP11 parent unit powers on but won't find the camera — I've already tried restarting both units

A battery swap causes a hard power cut that wipes the active wireless pairing from the parent unit's memory. Restarting alone won't re-establish it — you need to run the pairing sequence manually. Press the pair button on the camera unit first, then go into the parent unit menu and trigger a camera scan. Once the handset locks onto the camera signal, the link is saved and survives normal power cycling.

Night vision on the camera stopped working right after I replaced the parent unit battery — camera has power but the IR is off

Night vision on the MBP11 camera unit is controlled by a signal from the parent unit, not by the camera's own power state. If the parent unit lost its pairing after the battery swap, it can't send the IR activation command — the camera stays in day mode regardless of ambient light. Re-pair the parent unit to the camera using the pairing button sequence, then move the camera into a dark area to trigger the IR switch. If IR still doesn't activate after re-pairing, charge the parent unit to full 2.4V before testing again.

The parent unit battery drains completely overnight even when the monitor is just sitting on the nightstand

The MBP11 parent unit keeps its display and speaker circuit active as long as the screen is on — overnight that's sustained current draw from a 300mAh cell. Most drain complaints trace back to the screen timeout being disabled or set too long. Go into the parent unit settings and enable the display auto-off or reduce the backlight timeout to the shortest available interval. The audio circuit stays active for sound alerts regardless of screen state, so enabling screen timeout does not reduce monitoring function.
