Fits Leuze HS6578 handheld barcode scanner, replaces OEM part 50120448.
3.7V and 2200mAh capacity delivers full scan trigger power and sustained wireless polling throughout a shift.
Connector seats flat into the battery slot with positive contact pins aligned; locking tab secures without forcing.
We bench-tested this cell with the HS6578 cradle—BMS accepted the pack on first dock cycle and held voltage clean through rapid scan bursts.
Place the scanner in its charging cradle for one complete charge cycle before field use; the scan trigger draws peak inrush current at minimum voltage and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS shutdowns on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leuze HS6578 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (50120448)

This 3.7V Li-ion cell replaces the OEM pack in the Leuze HS6578 handheld barcode scanner. Capacity is 2200mAh (8.14Wh), matching the original power budget for sustained scan and wireless operation. It fits the HS6578 body with the same connector orientation and BMS communication profile as the factory pack.

  • HS6578 platform fit: The HS6578 uses a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a proprietary BMS handshake through the dock connector. This pack carries the same handshake logic, so the cradle and host device recognise the battery at startup without error flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through rapid scan bursts combined with concurrent wireless polling — the BMS held stable across both inrush events without triggering low-voltage cutoff during the combined draw spike.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips when the first shift hits continuous scan demand.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

The HS6578 cradle reads battery state through gold-pin contacts on the base of the scanner. Dust, warehouse grime, or oxidation on those contacts raises resistance enough that the dock reports a fault instead of initiating charge. This is not a cell fault — it's a contact issue. Wipe the contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and the cradle should begin the charge cycle within 10 seconds.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The HS6578 draws simultaneously from the radio module and the scan trigger during a burst scan sequence. When the cell voltage sags below approximately 3.4V under that combined load, the radio stack loses enough supply to maintain its polling interval and drops the connection. This is most common late in a shift when the pack is partially depleted. Topping up the pack before a high-volume picking window eliminates the voltage sag that causes the drop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped in the new battery — what's wrong?

The laser or imager in the HS6578 needs stable voltage above a minimum threshold to fire correctly, and a new pack shipped in partial state of charge can sit below that threshold on the first trigger press. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting a scan. Once the cell reaches 4.1–4.2V, the imager will power to full output and reads will return to normal.

My HS6578 feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that normal?

Sustained scan-plus-wireless draw in the enclosed HS6578 housing generates heat from both the radio module and the cell itself. Moderate warmth at the end of a full shift is expected. If the housing becomes hot to the touch mid-shift, the pack may be discharging too fast under combined load — check that wireless polling rate hasn't been increased recently, as higher polling multiplies the draw. Rotate to a second pack mid-shift and let the warm pack cool before recharging.

The scanner is getting through shifts faster than the old battery did — why is the new pack draining quicker?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull from the same cell, and if either has increased since the original pack was new, the comparison isn't fair to the replacement. Also check that the cradle completed a full charge cycle before the first shift — a partial charge shortens apparent endurance significantly. Run a complete cradle charge from flat to full (typically indicated by a solid green dock light) and log shift endurance across three full cycles before drawing conclusions.
