Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol LS3478 / DS3578 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-LS34IAB00-00)
This 3.7V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery fits the Symbol LS3478, DS3478, LS3578, and DS3578 handheld barcode scanners. These are cordless laser and imager scanners used in retail point-of-sale, warehouse pick-and-pack, and inventory workflows. Capacity is 2200mAh (8.14Wh) — matched to the original pack specification.
- LS3478 / DS3578 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers both the corded-style LS3478 and the Bluetooth DS3578 — the radio draw on the DS variants slightly increases current demand per scan cycle, but the cell chemistry handles both load profiles.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in an LS3478 cradle and a DS3578 Bluetooth unit. The BMS accepted charge from both single-bay and multi-bay cradles without fault codes. Scan trigger inrush current stayed within cutoff thresholds across all test cycles.
- First-shift prep on the cradle: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before use. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
Multi-bay cradles used in high-throughput warehouses build up oxidation and debris on the charging contacts over time. A new pack with clean contacts sitting against dirty dock contacts creates enough resistance to trigger a charging fault. Wipe the battery contacts and the cradle dock pins with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. The fault clears on the next charge attempt once contact resistance drops back into range.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The DS3578 runs a Bluetooth radio and a laser or imager simultaneously during fast scan sequences. The combined inrush from both the radio polling cycle and the scan trigger can cause a momentary voltage sag on a degraded or undercharged cell, which the BMS reads as an overcurrent condition and trips. This is not a scanner firmware issue — it is a cell-state issue. Charge the pack to full before the shift and confirm the cradle LED shows a complete charge, not just a partial top-up.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LS3478 stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — laser comes on but won't scan
The laser needs a minimum supply voltage to fire at full intensity and trigger a valid decode. A new pack shipped in storage state may be too low to sustain the laser at full power even though the scanner appears to power on. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting any scans. Once the cell is at rated voltage, the laser output returns to spec and barcode reads resume normally.
The DS3578 keeps dropping its Bluetooth pairing mid-shift — started after the battery swap
The DS3578 Bluetooth radio draws additional current during each polling cycle on top of the scan trigger load. If the pack contacts on either the battery or the cradle dock have any resistance from handling or storage, the combined draw causes brief voltage drops that the radio interprets as a power loss and drops the connection. Clean the gold contacts on the pack and the cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the battery, and re-pair the scanner. If the issue persists, confirm the pack reached a full charge before the shift — check that the cradle LED cycled to solid green.
Scanner gets noticeably warm after two or three hours of continuous scanning — is that normal?
Sustained scan bursts plus constant Bluetooth polling generate more heat than intermittent use, and the compact housing of the LS3478 and DS3578 has limited airflow. Some warmth is expected. If the scanner becomes hot to the touch or shuts down, the BMS is tripping on thermal protection — that usually means the pack is being discharged faster than the duty cycle it was charged for. Return the scanner to the cradle for a charge cycle, and check that the scan application is not polling the trigger continuously without pause between reads.
