Fits Motorola 21-62606-01 barcode scanners including LS3478 mobile data terminals and compatible handheld scan devices.
3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion cell delivers sustained power for wireless barcode reading across retail and warehouse shifts.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with positive terminal facing the spring contact — no forced insertion needed.
We ran charge cycles on a LS3478 dock and confirmed the BMS accepts the charger handshake without fault codes on first insertion.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola 21-62606-01 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery for Barcode Scanners

This 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the Motorola OEM part 21-62606-01 in handheld barcode scanners used across retail, warehousing, and logistics. It matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint. Capacity is rated at 8.14Wh — exactly as the product data specifies, not inflated.

  • Scanner platform fit: Motorola handheld scanners on this battery platform share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture. The BMS handshake expects a specific voltage window at contact — this pack initialises within that window without triggering a rejection fault on the dock or host device.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit held steady across burst scanning sequences without nuisance trips.
  • First cradle cycle before shift use: After installing this pack, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws peak inrush current highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs during the first hour of use.

Cradle charging error on a new pack

Motorola cradles use contact-resistance monitoring to confirm a valid pack is seated. A new battery with oxidised or contaminated gold contacts can read as a fault even though the pack is fine. The dock reports a charging error and may not initiate the charge cycle at all. Wipe the pack's contact strip with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and the cradle should clear the error and begin charging within 10 seconds.

Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan burst, the imager and the wireless radio pull simultaneously — that combined inrush can drag cell voltage below the BMS's low-voltage threshold for a fraction of a second. The BMS may briefly cut output, which drops the radio link mid-transmission. This is more common when the pack is below 30% charge. Keep the pack above that level during high-frequency scanning runs, and the voltage sag stays within the BMS tolerance band.

Frequently Asked Questions

My scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The imager or laser needs a minimum voltage to fire at full power, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been charged yet may sit just at that threshold. Put the scanner in its cradle and charge to full before using it on the floor. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — a partial charge resolved it immediately. Charge to 100% before the first scan shift and the imager powers normally.

The cradle shows a charging error with this new pack but charged the old battery fine — how do I fix it?

The cradle uses contact resistance to confirm a valid pack, and new batteries sometimes have a thin oxide layer on the gold contacts from storage. That resistance reads as a fault. Wipe the contact strip on the battery with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the pack with firm pressure until it clicks, and the error clears within 10 seconds in most cases.

This battery doesn't last as long through a shift as the original — why?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both draw from the same cell, and if your scan rate has increased or the wireless channel is busier, current draw is higher than the original battery faced when it was new. Also check that the pack completes a full cradle charge cycle — interrupted or partial charges reduce usable capacity per shift. Run one complete charge from flat to full, then track shift endurance before assuming the capacity is low.
