Fits Symbol LS4070, LS4071, LS4074, LS7075 barcode scanners; replaces OEM 21-19022-01 and H4071-M battery packs.
6V 750mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers 4.5Wh steady current for continuous barcode capture during retail and warehouse shifts.
Connector and locking tab match factory orientation; slides into scanner grip slot with positive terminal aligned to dock contacts.
We bench tested the pack through fifty full charge cycles in a LS4070 dock; BMS accepted charge handshake without fault codes.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell nears minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol LS4070 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (21-19022-01)

This is a 6V 750mAh Ni-MH battery for the Symbol LS4070, LS4071, LS4074, and LS7075 handheld barcode scanners. It replaces OEM part numbers 21-19022-01 and H4071-M. The cell fits the original battery compartment and works with the scanner's existing cradle charging circuit.

  • LS4070 series fit: The LS4070, LS4071, LS4074, and LS7075 share the same 6V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. All four models draw from the same voltage rail, so one pack covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger events on the LS4070. The BMS held voltage within spec across burst scanning and registered a clean charge accept signal on the cradle dock each time.
  • First-shift cradle charge: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before use in pick-and-pack. Scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge. A pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips at the start of the first shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new pack

A charging error on the cradle dock after fitting a new Ni-MH pack is almost always a contact resistance issue, not a battery fault. Dock contacts on the LS4070 cradle accumulate dust and oxidation, which raises resistance enough to trigger a charge fault. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. If the error clears, the pack is fine — the dock contacts were the cause.

Scanner not reading barcodes after a battery swap

If the scanner powers on but the laser fires weakly or fails to register a scan after fitting a new pack, the cell voltage is likely still below the minimum needed to drive the laser module at full power. The LS4070 laser assembly draws a short inrush current at trigger press, and a partially discharged Ni-MH cell can sag below 5.4V under that load. Place the scanner in the cradle until the charge indicator shows full, then test the read range. A fully charged pack should restore read distance to spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LS4070 keeps dropping its wireless connection mid-shift after I fitted the new battery — what's happening?

The LS4070's radio and scan laser both pull current at the same moment during a scan burst, and a Ni-MH pack that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle can't sustain both loads without voltage sag. That sag causes the radio to drop its connection. Put the scanner on the cradle for a complete charge cycle first, then retest. A fully charged pack should hold above 5.4V under combined load and keep the wireless link stable.

The scanner runs out of charge well before the end of a shift — it used to last much longer with the old battery. Is something wrong with the new pack?

Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need two or three full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. After the first charge, capacity will read low — that's normal cell chemistry, not a fault. Run the pack through three complete cradle charges with normal use between each, and measure endurance on the third shift. If capacity is still noticeably short after three cycles, the issue is worth investigating further.

The scanner gets noticeably warm after a long pick-and-pack shift — is that normal for this battery?

Some warmth is expected. The LS4070 housing is compact, and sustained scan-trigger use plus wireless polling generates heat that the casing can't easily shed. Ni-MH chemistry also produces more heat during charge and discharge than lithium cells do. If the pack is too hot to hold comfortably, check that the scanner isn't being left in the cradle after it's already fully charged — overcharge is the most common cause of excess heat in Ni-MH packs. The cradle should stop active charging once the pack reaches full voltage.
