Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol MC50 / MC5040 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-MC50EAB02)
This is a 3.7V, 3600mAh Li-ion battery for the Symbol MC50 and MC5040 mobile computers. These rugged handheld scanners are used in warehouse, retail, and field service environments where a dead battery stalls an entire picking shift. The OEM part numbers this replaces are BTRY-MC50EAB02 and 21-67315-01.
- MC50 and MC5040 fit: Both models share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — a single cell covers both. The pack communicates charge state to the device over the SMBus line, so the battery gauge on screen reflects actual cell voltage.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on an MC50 unit. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the cradle charger completed a full charge cycle without a fault flag.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using it in production. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum — a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips during the first burst of the shift.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
A charging error on a freshly installed pack is usually a contact resistance issue, not a faulty cell. The MC50 cradle reads pack voltage through the battery contacts — even light oxidation on the gold pads raises resistance enough to trigger a fault. Wipe the contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears within 30 seconds, contact resistance was the cause.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The MC50 draws from the same cell for both the wireless radio and the scan trigger. During a rapid scan burst, the combined inrush from the imager and the 802.11 radio can pull voltage down momentarily. If the cell is partially discharged, this sag crosses the radio's minimum operating threshold and the connection drops. Charge the pack to full before a high-volume shift and check that the cell rests above 3.6V between bursts — below that, sag under combined load becomes more pronounced.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MC50 scanner keeps dropping its wireless connection mid-shift — could the battery be causing this?
Yes. The MC50 uses the same cell to power both the scan trigger and the wireless radio simultaneously. During rapid scanning, that combined inrush pulls cell voltage down, and if the pack is partially discharged, the voltage sag is enough to drop the radio connection. Charge the pack fully before each shift and check that resting voltage stays above 3.6V — if it doesn't hold that level, the cell has degraded and needs replacement.
The new battery fits and the scanner powers on, but the cradle keeps throwing a charging error — what's wrong?
This is almost always a contact resistance problem, not a defective pack. The MC50 cradle reads pack voltage through the battery contact pads, and even minor oxidation or debris on those pads is enough to trigger a fault flag. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the scanner until it clicks, and wait 30 seconds — the error should clear. If it doesn't, try a different cradle slot to rule out a worn dock contact.
This new battery drains noticeably faster than my previous one did — is the capacity actually lower?
The pack is rated at 3600mAh, which matches or exceeds most OEM Symbol packs for this model. Faster drain on a new pack is usually down to scan burst frequency and wireless polling combined — the MC50's radio stays active between scans, which adds a steady background draw. Check your device's wireless polling interval in the settings and reduce scan frequency during idle periods. If the cell still drains unusually fast after a few full charge cycles, bench-test resting voltage after a full charge — it should read at or above 4.1V.
