Fits Symbol VC5090 mobile data terminals; replaces OEM part GP75AAAH3AMXZ.
This 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH cell delivers consistent power for barcode scanning and wireless transmission cycles.
Battery slides into the rear compartment with a single locking tab; contacts align horizontally on insertion.
We bench-tested this pack in a VC5090 cradle through full charge cycles; BMS accepted the cell without fault codes.
After installation, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before field use — scan trigger current draw is highest when the cell sits near minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS lockouts on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Symbol VC5090 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GP75AAAH3AMXZ)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Symbol VC5090 mobile data terminal. It fits the VC5090-MA0QL0GH6WW, VC5090-MA0QM0GH67R, VC5090-MA0QM0GH6WR, and related VC5090 variants. It replaces OEM part GP75AAAH3AMXZ directly.

  • VC5090 family fit: All listed VC5090 variants share the same 3.6V Ni-MH cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One battery covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through scan-trigger and wireless polling loads typical of pick-and-pack shifts. The BMS held stable across repeated inrush events at low state-of-charge with no false cutoffs.
  • First-shift preparation on the VC5090: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before pulling it into rotation. The scan trigger draws its highest inrush current when the cell is near minimum — a fully charged pack prevents BMS trips on the first burst of the shift.

Cradle showing charging error on a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH cells leave storage with a partial and uneven charge state. Some VC5090 cradles detect this as an anomaly and flag a charging error rather than starting the charge cycle. The fix is almost always contact-related — wipe the gold contacts on the battery and the cradle dock with a dry cloth, reseat firmly, and wait 60 seconds. If the error clears, the cradle has re-detected the pack correctly and charging will begin normally.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The VC5090 runs both its wireless radio and its scan engine simultaneously during fast scanning. This combined draw spikes current far above either load alone. On a degraded or low cell, the voltage sag from that inrush can cross the BMS cutoff threshold, momentarily dropping the radio link. If this happens mid-shift, check the pack voltage — a healthy 3.6V Ni-MH cell should read no lower than 3.2V under load. Swap or recharge if it sags below that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my VC5090 stop reading barcodes right after I put in the new battery?

A fresh Ni-MH pack out of storage doesn't carry enough charge to sustain the scan engine's laser or imager at full power. The scanner may power on fine but fail to complete a scan because the imager draw pulls the cell below its operating threshold. Seat the scanner in its cradle and complete a full charge cycle before use. After a full charge, scan reads should trigger cleanly from the first pull.

The VC5090 feels warm after a long shift — is the battery causing it?

Yes, this is normal for Ni-MH chemistry under sustained combined load. The VC5090 housing is compact, and heat from the wireless radio plus repeated scan triggers accumulates in the casing. Ni-MH cells also dissipate more heat than lithium cells at sustained draw rates. The pack is not at risk unless it becomes too hot to hold — if it reaches that point, remove it and let it cool to room temperature before recharging.

The VC5090 battery drains faster than the old one did — what's wrong?

Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need two to three full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If you pulled the pack straight from the box into a shift, you're running below the 700mAh spec. Cycle it through at least two full cradle charges with use in between. If endurance is still short after three cycles, check that the cradle contacts are clean — poor contact resistance causes incomplete charges that leave the cell at 60–70% even when the cradle light shows full.
