Pack not accepted by device after swap

The fix is straightforward: plug in the charger before attempting to power the device on. Once the pack climbs above 3.6V, the device will recognise it and proceed normally.
Pack not reaching full charge on the first cycle
On the first charge, the device's charge IC may limit current to new cells — this is a protection behaviour, not a fault. The result is a charge that terminates earlier than expected, leaving the indicator short of 100%. This clears after one complete cycle. Charge to termination, discharge through normal use, then charge again — the second cycle will reach full capacity.

My Acer device powers on for a second then shuts off immediately after I swapped the battery — what's happening?
This is a low resting voltage issue. The replacement pack ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.4–3.5V, and the device's protection circuit shuts down before draw can begin. Plug the device straight into the charger without powering it on and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Once the pack reaches approximately 3.6V, the device will boot and hold power normally.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically after the swap — it reads 80% then drops to 40% within minutes.
The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cells. It doesn't yet know the actual capacity curve of the new pack, so the percentage estimate is unreliable. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — charge fully to termination, use the device until it shuts off on low battery, then charge again to 100%. After that cycle, the gauge recalibrates and the readout stabilises.
The new pack gets noticeably warm during the first charge — is something wrong?
Warmth during the first charge is normal. New Li-ion cells go through a conditioning phase on the first cycle where internal resistance is slightly higher than it will be after a few cycles, which generates a small amount of heat. If the pack is hot to the touch or the device shuts the charge down partway through, that's abnormal — but gentle warmth that fades as the charge completes is expected. Check that the device is not covered or enclosed during that first charge.
