Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ambarella A7LS — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 850mAh Li-ion cell for the Ambarella A7LS action camera. It replaces the original internal battery used for continuous video recording in dash cam and sports camera applications. Dimensions are 36.35 × 32.30 × 7.82mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.
- A7LS platform fit: The A7LS processor handles continuous H.264 encoding alongside sensor readout — both draw from the same 3.7V rail. This cell matches the original voltage and form factor so the board receives stable current during sustained recording bursts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge while monitoring BMS behaviour at the low-voltage cutoff. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at the expected threshold with no anomalous shutdowns during continuous load.
- First-cycle conditioning on the A7LS: Run one complete charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy recording sessions. Some A7LS units recalibrate their fuel gauge against the new cell's discharge curve during that first cycle, which keeps the battery indicator accurate from the second session onward.
Why the A7LS battery indicator reads full then drops suddenly mid-clip
The A7LS maps its battery-remaining display to a voltage-threshold table calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell — even one with identical chemistry — can have a slightly different voltage slope through the mid-range. The camera reads the new curve as "full" longer than expected, then drops several bars at once when voltage falls through a mapped threshold. One full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body allows the firmware to re-anchor its reference points to the new cell's actual curve.
Camera shows dead battery icon on a freshly charged replacement cell
This happens when a replacement cell ships in a deep-discharge state — typically below 2.8V — and the A7LS BMS reads it as a failed or absent cell rather than a depleted one. Connect the battery to an OEM-compatible charger externally for 10–15 minutes to bring the cell above 3.0V before inserting it into the camera body. Once above that threshold, the camera will recognise the cell and accept a normal charge. If the camera still shows a dead battery icon after pre-charging, check that the cell contacts are fully seated and free of debris.

Frequently Asked Questions
My A7LS keeps stopping recording and showing a low battery warning even though the indicator was showing over half charge — what's happening?
The A7LS firmware uses fixed voltage thresholds to trigger its low-battery recording halt, and a new cell's discharge curve may not align with those thresholds until it's been cycled. The camera hits a mapped cutoff voltage while the indicator still shows partial charge, so it shuts recording down before the cell is actually depleted. Run one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body to let the firmware resync its threshold mapping to the new cell. After that cycle, the warning and the actual charge level will track together correctly.
The battery percentage on my A7LS is jumping around — showing 80%, then 45%, then back to 70% within minutes of recording — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not necessarily faulty. The A7LS indicator is voltage-based, and during active recording the processor and sensor draw spikes cause momentary voltage dips that the firmware reads as sudden capacity drops. When the load eases between clips, voltage recovers and the indicator climbs again. This erratic jumping is most pronounced during the first few cycles on a new cell — complete two to three full charge-discharge cycles and the display will stabilise as the firmware learns the cell's real discharge profile.
My A7LS gets noticeably warm during long recording sessions and the battery drains faster than expected in cold weather — are these related?
They are separate issues. Body warmth during sustained recording is normal — the A7LS chipset runs H.264 encoding continuously, and combined processor and sensor heat output is significant even at ambient temperature. Cold-weather drain is a different problem: Li-ion cells lose available capacity as temperature drops, with measurable capacity reduction beginning around 10°C and accelerating below 0°C. For cold-environment use, keep the camera body insulated between clips and start each session with a fully charged cell — target a resting voltage of 4.18–4.20V before mounting the camera.
