Fits Zoom Q4 handheld audio recorder; replaces OEM battery BT-02.
3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full runtime per recording session without mid-session dropout.
Connector slides straight into Q4 battery slot; locking tab seats flush with recorder chassis.
We bench-tested this cell in a Q4 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without fault codes.
On initial charge in the Q4 body, do not interrupt the cycle — some Zoom firmware requires a complete charge-to-shutdown sequence to map capacity display accurately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zoom Q4 Handy Video Recorder — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-02)

This 3.7V, 1050mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the OEM BT-02 battery in the Zoom Q4 Handy Video Recorder. It fits the Q4 and Q4-series units (including 247-9036) used for field audio and video capture. Dimensions are 43.30 × 31.30 × 7.10mm — match these before fitting if you are unsure of your unit revision.

  • Q4 and Q4 Handy Video Recorder compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the BT-02 connector and contact layout. The BMS in each unit reads the same voltage thresholds, so one cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on Q4 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, completed a full charge without thermal cutoff, and the recorder powered on normally at each stage of the discharge curve.
  • First-cycle conditioning on the Q4: Charge this cell fully inside the Q4 body before your first recording session. The Q4's battery-remaining indicator calibrates its threshold map during the first in-body charge cycle — skipping this step can cause the indicator to report inaccurate levels until a full cycle is completed.

Q4 battery indicator dropping to zero before the cell is actually flat

The Q4 maps its battery-remaining display against a fixed voltage-threshold curve calibrated to the original BT-02's discharge profile. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge curve can cause the indicator to hit zero while the cell still holds usable charge. This is a display mapping issue, not a cell fault. Run the recorder until it shuts down on its own, then charge fully in the body — one complete cycle usually brings the indicator back into step with actual capacity.

Q4 not recognising the replacement cell on first install

If the Q4 powers on but immediately displays a low-battery warning or shuts down after inserting a new cell, the BMS has not yet accepted the replacement. Remove the cell, reinsert it firmly, and connect the recorder to its charger before powering on. Allow a full charge cycle to complete from within the body. After that cycle, the unit should recognise the cell and resume normal operation at 3.7V nominal.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zoom Q4 shows the battery indicator jumping around erratically — is the new cell faulty?

The Q4's indicator reads voltage and maps it against preset thresholds tuned to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different curve causes the display to jump between levels even though the cell is delivering stable voltage. Run the recorder until it powers off on its own, then charge it fully inside the Q4 body. One complete in-body charge and discharge cycle resets the threshold mapping and the indicator stabilises.

The Q4 cuts out during a recording session even though the indicator showed charge remaining — what's happening?

The Q4 draws additional current when writing to SD card while simultaneously running XY microphones and the monitor output. If the cell voltage sags under that combined load, the BMS trips a low-voltage cutoff before the indicator reaches zero. Check that your SD card is not slow-write — a card that causes write buffering increases draw sharply. If cutouts persist, charge fully and verify the cell rests at or above 4.1V after a full charge cycle in the body.

After storage, my Q4 won't power on with the replacement battery installed — how do I recover it?

Lithium-ion cells that sit discharged for several weeks can drop below the BMS re-engagement threshold, typically around 2.5V, and the recorder will not power on from the battery alone. Connect the Q4 directly to a USB power source and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button — this lets the charger circuit trickle current into the cell until it crosses the re-engagement floor. Once the charge LED activates, allow a full charge to complete before powering on.
