Fits Aastra Maestro 900DSS cordless phone handsets requiring 3.6V Ni-MH replacement battery.
3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH cell delivers rated capacity on the Maestro 900DSS platform without voltage sag under transmit load.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot; locking tab seats flush with housing — no force needed on insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a Maestro 900DSS handset; BMS accepted charge from the base station without fault codes on first cycle.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Aastra MAESTRO 900DSS — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Aastra MAESTRO 900DSS cordless handset. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the wireless unit. No OEM part number is published for this pack — fit is confirmed by model match and physical dimensions (50.43 × 42.54 × 14.40mm).

  • MAESTRO 900DSS handset fit: The 900DSS uses a single-cell 3.6V NiMH configuration with a fixed connector orientation. This pack matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the BMS in the base station reads the incoming charge current correctly without tripping a rejection cycle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH-compatible bench charger. The BMS accepted full charge termination at delta-V, and the cell voltage held above 3.3V through the discharge curve without early cutoff.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped in storage state need a slow initial charge to reach rated 1200mAh capacity — skipping this means the first few talk sessions will feel noticeably short.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

NiMH packs lose voltage during storage. If the cell rests below roughly 3.0V when you install it, some base stations interpret this as a fault condition and refuse to start the charge cycle. The fix is a trickle pre-charge — place the handset in the base, leave it undisturbed for two hours, then check the indicator again. Once the cell climbs above the acceptance threshold, the base resumes normal charge behaviour.

Range drops noticeably mid-call after replacing the battery

DECT transmitters pull a short burst of current every time the handset sends a radio packet. If the NiMH cell hasn't completed its first full conditioning cycle, internal resistance is still elevated. Under that RF load, cell voltage sags and the transmitter backs off power — which the user experiences as reduced range or a breaking signal. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles through the handset before judging range. After conditioning, internal resistance drops and voltage sag under RF load returns to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than expected even after a full charge — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong. NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Each cycle conditions the cell and reduces internal resistance. Run the handset down until it warns low, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle four or five, talk time should reflect the rated 1200mAh output.

The handset won't pair with the base after I fitted the new battery — it was paired before.

Some DECT phones lose their pairing data when power is fully interrupted, which happens during a battery swap. The handset and base need to re-register. Place the handset in the base, hold the registration button on the base unit for three to five seconds, then follow the on-screen or LED prompt on the handset to complete pairing — the exact sequence is in the base station manual under "Register Handset."

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base.

The handset must sit fully seated in the base for the charging contacts to make a clean connection. If the contacts are slightly misaligned or corroded, the base shows a charge indicator but delivers no current. Remove the handset, wipe the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and confirm the charge light activates. If the battery still drains overnight, test with a known-good handset to isolate whether the fault is in the base contacts.
