4.8V, 1500mAh NiMH battery delivers standard talk and standby performance for household cordless phone use.
Connector slides into handset battery compartment with single locking tab; orientation keyed to prevent reversed insertion.
We bench-tested this pack on a Liberty C base unit; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG Liberty C Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT153)

This is a 4.8V 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG Liberty C cordless DECT handset. It fits the Liberty C, Liberty CA, Liberty CLT4S, and Liberty S models. The BT153 part number matches the original battery these handsets shipped with.

  • Liberty series fit: The Liberty C, CA, CLT4S, and S all use the same 4.8V three-cell Ni-MH pack with the BT153 footprint. Voltage rail, connector orientation, and physical dimensions are shared across the range — one part covers all four models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on the Liberty handset and confirmed the base station accepted charge without error. The BMS held cell balance across all three Ni-MH cells throughout cycling.
  • First charge on Ni-MH cordless phones: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones do not reach rated capacity on a short initial charge — the base station's trickle charge circuit needs the full window to condition the cells properly.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and do not deliver rated capacity immediately. The Liberty handset's charge circuit uses a slow trickle rate, so the first few cycles will feel shorter than expected. Capacity builds progressively over three to five full charge-discharge cycles. By cycle five, the pack should reach close to the rated 1500mAh.

Base station showing no charge or error light with new battery installed

Ni-MH packs that have sat in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the Liberty base expects before it starts charging. The base reads the pack voltage on contact — if it sees below roughly 3.6V across the cells, it may not initiate the charge cycle. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. If the error persists, a brief charge from a compatible external Ni-MH charger at 150mA for 15 minutes will bring the pack above the base acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AEG Liberty handset lost its pairing after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back on the base?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, and the Liberty series can behave this way. The handset stores pairing in volatile memory that clears without a battery present. To re-pair, hold the handset's Find/Pair button while it is in the base until the base unit beeps. If the base has a paging button, press that first to put it into pairing mode, then confirm on the handset.

The Liberty handset drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a faulty cell. The Liberty base charges through three contact pins on the handset cradle — if any pin is dirty or the handset is slightly misaligned, the charge circuit never closes. Remove the handset, wipe the contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then re-seat it until you hear or feel it click into position. A correctly seated handset should show the charge indicator within 30 seconds.

The Liberty's range feels noticeably shorter after I put the new battery in — why?

DECT transmit power on the Liberty handset is tied directly to the battery voltage under RF load. A new Ni-MH pack that has not been fully conditioned will sag under the transmit current draw, causing the radio to pull back power to protect the cells. This presents as reduced range. Run three to five full charge cycles — 16 hours in the base, then use until the low-battery indicator shows — and the voltage stability under load will improve as the cells condition.
