Fits Ascom Dream cordless handset, replaces OEM battery 4.8V pack.
4.8V at 1500mAh delivers full talk time across daily call cycles.
Connector slides straight into handset slot with positive contact alignment.
We bench-tested the pack on a Dream base unit; BMS voltage settled at 4.8V nominal after 15-minute stabilization, base accepted the cell without error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ascom Dream — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ascom Dream cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset compartment and restores charge capacity when the original cell no longer holds a full charge. No OEM part number is published for this pack — fit is confirmed by handset model and battery compartment dimensions.

  • Ascom Dream handset fit: The Dream handset runs a 4.8V Ni-MH cell architecture. This pack matches that voltage rail and the compartment footprint (59.86 × 48.57 × 15.76mm), so the connector seats correctly and the base station's charge circuit sees the expected cell voltage.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a 4.8V Ni-MH test rig. The cell voltage climbed steadily to 5.6V at full charge, and the pack accepted a slow overnight charge without thermal rise or premature cutoff.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged, and skipping the slow initial charge means the pack will never reach its rated 1500mAh capacity in normal cycling.

Talk time shorter than expected after the first few charges

Ni-MH cells do not reach full rated capacity on cycle one. The Dream's base station charges at a slow trickle rate, and a new pack typically needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cells condition and hit 1500mAh. If talk time feels short after day one, that is normal — not a fault. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle five, capacity should stabilise at rated output.

Base station not charging after battery swap

New Ni-MH packs often sit in storage and self-discharge to below 4.0V. Some base stations read a voltage that low as a fault and refuse to initiate a charge cycle — the charge indicator stays off or flashes an error. The fix is to briefly apply a top-up charge from a standalone Ni-MH charger set to 4.8V, bringing the pack above the base station's acceptance threshold. Once the pack is above roughly 4.4V, reseat it in the handset and place it on the base — the charge indicator should activate within two minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ascom Dream handset loses range within a few minutes of leaving the base — could the new battery be causing this?

Yes, this is a known symptom when a Ni-MH pack hasn't completed its conditioning cycles. Under RF transmit load, a partially conditioned pack sags in voltage, and the handset's transmit power drops with it — reducing range noticeably. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first. After conditioning, the pack holds voltage more firmly under the RF draw and range returns to normal.

The Ascom Dream handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their registration data when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment the old battery comes out. The pairing isn't stored in the battery — it's held in the handset's volatile memory, and a power interruption clears it. Re-register the handset using the base station's paging or registration button — on most Ascom DECT bases, hold the registration button for three seconds until the base beeps, then follow the handset's on-screen pairing prompt.

The Ascom Dream is sitting in the base all night but the battery is flat by morning — is the battery faulty?

A flat battery after overnight standby usually means the handset isn't making proper contact with the base charging pins, not that the battery itself is faulty. Check that the handset clicks fully into the base cradle and that the charge pins on both the handset and cradle are clean and free of dust or corrosion. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates. If the light stays on and the battery is still flat by morning after a full 16-hour sit, the base station's charge circuit may need inspection.
