Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bell South BS5822 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Bell South BS5822 cordless handset. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or drops calls mid-conversation. Dimensions are 45.90 x 31.20 x 10.70mm — same footprint as the factory cell.
- BS5822 handset fit: The BS5822 runs a single-cell 3.6V Ni-MH pack with a fixed connector orientation. This battery matches that voltage rail and connector, so the handset BMS accepts it without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on Ni-MH test equipment. The BMS accepted the cell at first insertion, and capacity reached rated output after three full conditioning cycles.
- First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged — skipping this step means the pack never reaches its rated 700mAh capacity.
Range reduction on the BS5822 after a battery swap
The BS5822 DECT transmitter draws a short current spike every time it sends a signal burst. A fresh Ni-MH cell that hasn't been conditioned has higher internal resistance, so voltage sags under that RF load. The handset interprets the sag as a low-battery condition and reduces transmit power. After three full charge-discharge cycles, internal resistance drops and full range returns.
Base station shows no charge light after fitting a new pack
Ni-MH batteries sit in storage before sale and can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a valid pack. If the base shows no charge light or an error indicator, the handset voltage is too low for the cradle circuit to trigger charging. Remove the handset, hold the talk button for three seconds to partially discharge any residual static, then reseat it firmly. Most bases resume normal charging once the contact voltage reads above 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BS5822 talk time is much shorter than the original battery — is this normal after a swap?
Yes, for the first three to five cycles. Ni-MH cells are not at full capacity straight out of the packaging — internal resistance is higher and the electrolyte hasn't fully activated. Each full charge-discharge cycle reduces that resistance and builds usable capacity. Run three complete cycles with a full 16-hour charge each time, and talk time should reach the rated 700mAh output.
The BS5822 handset lost its pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?
Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing data when power drops completely. The BS5822 needs to re-register to the base after a full power loss. Press and hold the page/find button on the base for five seconds, then follow the handset pairing sequence in the manual — usually holding the call button while the base is in search mode. Pairing completes in under 30 seconds.
The new battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?
This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. The BS5822 base charges through two contact pins on the bottom of the handset — if the handset isn't fully clicked into the cradle, the circuit stays open and the battery runs on standby draw all night. Check that the handset sits flush with no gap at the base, and confirm the charge indicator light activates on the base. If the light doesn't come on, clean the contact pins with a dry cotton swab and reseat firmly.
