This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH battery for the Bell South BS5822 cordless handset. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or drops calls mid-conversation. Dimensions are 45.90 x 31.20 x 10.70mm — same footprint as the factory cell.

Range reduction on the BS5822 after a battery swap

The BS5822 DECT transmitter draws a short current spike every time it sends a signal burst. A fresh Ni-MH cell that hasn't been conditioned has higher internal resistance, so voltage sags under that RF load. The handset interprets the sag as a low-battery condition and reduces transmit power. After three full charge-discharge cycles, internal resistance drops and full range returns.

Base station shows no charge light after fitting a new pack

Ni-MH batteries sit in storage before sale and can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a valid pack. If the base shows no charge light or an error indicator, the handset voltage is too low for the cradle circuit to trigger charging. Remove the handset, hold the talk button for three seconds to partially discharge any residual static, then reseat it firmly. Most bases resume normal charging once the contact voltage reads above 3.0V.
