Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Topcom Cocoon 300 / 350 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Topcom Cocoon 300 and Cocoon 350 cordless DECT phones. It slots into the handset and restores power when the original cell has degraded beyond useful capacity. Dimensions are 45.90 × 31.20 × 10.70mm — confirm these against your existing pack before ordering.

  • Cocoon 300 and 350 compatibility: Both handsets share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH form factor, connector orientation, and physical envelope. One pack covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH-compatible analyser. The cell accepted a full charge without voltage anomalies and the protection circuit held within spec across all test cycles.
  • First-charge conditioning for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells arrive partially discharged from storage. Skipping the slow first charge shortens the usable capacity you get from every subsequent cycle.

Range dropping on the Cocoon 300 after a battery swap

NiMH cells sag under RF transmit load — the handset draws a short current spike every time it communicates with the base station. If the replacement pack hasn't been fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher than rated, and voltage dips under that load. The DECT radio reduces transmit power when supply voltage falls, which cuts effective range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles through the base station before judging range performance.

Base station charge light not coming on after fitting new battery

NiMH cells that have sat in storage can drop below 3.0V. Some cordless base stations won't initiate a charge cycle if the incoming voltage is too low — the charger circuit reads it as a fault rather than a depleted cell. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly so the contacts close properly. If the charge light still won't activate, the cell voltage may need a brief top-up via a standalone NiMH charger set to 3.6V before the base will take over.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Cocoon 300 talk time is much shorter than it used to be even with the new battery — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong. NiMH cells don't deliver full rated capacity straight out of the packaging — they need three to five complete charge and discharge cycles before the chemistry stabilises. Each cycle through the base station recovers more capacity than the last. By cycle five, talk time should be close to rated output; judge the battery only after that point.

The handset lost its pairing with the base station when I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed, because the handset stores pairing in volatile memory backed by the battery. Repairing is straightforward: press and hold the registration button on the base station until the indicator flashes, then follow the pairing sequence on the handset — usually holding the Mute or Page key for five seconds. Consult the Cocoon 300 manual for the exact key combination if your model differs.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base station — what's causing that?

This points to a poor contact between the handset and the charging cradle rather than a battery fault. The base station needs a clean metal-to-metal connection to pass charge current. Remove the handset, check both the handset charging pins and the cradle contacts for oxidation or debris, and wipe them with a dry cloth. Reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator lights up — if it doesn't illuminate within 30 seconds of seating, the contacts need further cleaning or slight repositioning.
