Talk time shorter than rated after battery swap

A fresh Li-ion cell ships at partial state of charge — typically 30–50%. The handset's fuel gauge calibrates against the first few full cycles. Until two or three complete charge-discharge cycles have run, the displayed battery level and actual talk time will not align. Run the handset down to low-battery warning, then charge fully, twice over. By the third cycle, capacity readings stabilise at rated 600mAh.

Base station charge light not activating on new battery

When a Li-ion cell arrives deeply discharged from storage, the base station's charge circuit may not detect a valid battery voltage and will not start the charge cycle. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — poor contact at the charging pins is the first thing to rule out. If the light still does not activate, check the cell voltage directly; it should read at least 3.0V. Below that threshold, the base treats the pack as faulty and refuses to charge until voltage is recovered with a bench charger or USB emergency charge port if the handset supports it.
