Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cidco 102794-01 / 104212-01 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH battery for Cidco cordless handsets, including models 102794-01, 104212-01, 60AAS3B1Z, 60AAS3B2, and over 25 compatible variants. It replaces the original pack when the handset can no longer hold a charge long enough for a full call. Physical dimensions are 49.00 x 42.90 x 14.74mm — confirm these match your handset bay before ordering.
- Cidco handset compatibility: These Cidco models share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH voltage rail and battery bay geometry. The connector orientation and tab spacing are consistent across the listed variants, so one pack covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Cidco handset base. The BMS accepted charge without error at cycle one, and capacity tracked upward across the first three cycles — typical Ni-MH behaviour before the cells reach rated output.
- First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cordless phone cells require a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the most common reason a new battery underperforms out of the box.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state and require three to five full charge-discharge cycles before reaching rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may get noticeably less talk time than expected — this is not a fault. Each subsequent full cycle conditions the cells further. By cycle five, output should be at or near the rated 1500mAh.
Base station charge light not activating on a new pack
Ni-MH batteries that have been in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the base uses to detect a valid battery. If the charge indicator stays off or shows an error, the base may not recognise the pack as chargeable. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — contact between the charge pins needs to be clean and flush. If the light still does not activate, check that the resting voltage of the new pack is above 3.0V using a multimeter before assuming a base fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Cidco handset is losing range after I put in the new battery — the original never did this. What's going on?
Range drop after a battery swap usually means the Ni-MH pack hasn't been fully conditioned yet. When cell voltage sags under RF transmit load, the handset reduces output power to stay within operating limits — which cuts range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the voltage sag will decrease as the cells reach rated capacity. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the battery contacts in the handset bay are clean and making firm contact.
My Cidco handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery. How do I fix this?
Some DECT cordless phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset — this is a known behaviour, not a battery fault. The handset stores pairing keys in a small volatile memory that clears when the battery goes flat or is physically removed. Re-register the handset using your base station's pairing or registration button — on most Cidco bases, hold the registration button for five seconds until the base beeps, then follow the handset prompts.
The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base. What causes that?
If the handset is draining overnight in the base, the first thing to check is whether it's fully seated — Cidco bases use spring-loaded charge pins, and a slight misalignment means no current is flowing even though the handset looks docked. Press the handset down until you feel or hear it click into position and confirm the charge indicator lights up. If the handset is correctly seated but still draining, check the base with a multimeter at the charge pins — you should read between 3.6V and 4.8V DC with the handset removed.
