Fits Digi-Phone RCL950 cordless phone handset; replaces OEM battery pack directly.
3.6V, 300mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full talk time and standby capacity on this DECT handset.
Connector seats into handset battery slot with positive terminal contact; no locking tab required.
We bench-tested the pack on RCL950 base charging — BMS accepted voltage profile cleanly, no error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Digi-Phone RCL950 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 300mAh Ni-MH battery for the Digi-Phone RCL950 cordless telephone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the wireless unit. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.

  • RCL950 handset compatibility: The RCL950 base station expects a 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack. The charging circuit is calibrated to that voltage window and the physical dimensions — 31.40 x 30.17 x 10.81mm — match the original tray without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the RCL950 base charging circuit and confirmed the charge acceptance, termination behaviour, and contact engagement all matched a factory-fresh unit.
  • First-charge discipline for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it on charge for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells fresh from storage have suppressed capacity — slow charging on the first cycle lets the chemistry reach its rated 300mAh.

Base station charging error on a new NiMH pack

NiMH cells discharged during storage can drop below 3.0V. Some cordless base stations read this as a fault condition and refuse to begin a normal charge cycle. The fix is a trickle pre-charge — either leave the handset seated for several hours without removing it, or use an external NiMH charger to nudge the pack above 3.3V first. Once the voltage crosses the base station's acceptance threshold, the charging LED will switch to its normal cycle.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

A new NiMH pack rarely delivers full rated capacity on the first or second cycle — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defective cell. The capacity builds across three to five full charge-and-use cycles as the crystalline structure in the cells stabilises. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator appears, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle five, talk time should be at or near the 300mAh rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RCL950 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless phones clear their pairing memory when power drops to zero. The handset needs to be re-registered to the base manually. On most RCL-series units, hold the base registration button for three seconds until the LED flashes, then press the handset's Talk or Page button to initiate pairing. Check the RCL950 manual for the exact button sequence — the process takes under two minutes.

The RCL950 handset is dead by morning even when I leave it in the base overnight — is the new battery faulty?

This is almost always a seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset sits even slightly off-centre in the base cradle, the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the handset runs entirely on battery in standby. Remove the handset, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat it firmly until it clicks into position. Check that the charging indicator light activates immediately — if it doesn't light within ten seconds, reposition the handset.

Range dropped noticeably after I put the new battery in — the original reached the whole house but this one cuts out in the next room.

DECT transmit power in the handset is drawn directly from the battery voltage. When a NiMH pack is in its early cycles or partially discharged, the voltage sags under the RF load and the transmitter can't maintain full output power. Charge the handset for the full 16-hour first cycle, then run three complete charge-use cycles to condition the cells. If range is still short after conditioning, measure the handset's resting voltage — a healthy 3.6V NiMH pack should sit above 3.9V immediately after a full charge.
