Fits LifeTec LT9965, LT9966, LT9960, and compatible DECT GAP cordless phone handsets.
3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full talk and standby capacity for all-day cordless operation.
Connector type is proprietary LifeTec two-pin interface; battery seats vertically into handset bay with spring-loaded contact alignment.
We bench-tested this cell in an LT9965 handset paired to its base station — BMS voltage settled at 3.6V nominal, and the base charger accepted the pack without error codes on initial dock.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity and full transmit range.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LifeTec LT9965 / LT9966 / LT9960 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the LifeTec LT9965, LT9966, LT9960, and DECT GAP cordless phone handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores power to units that no longer hold a charge or fail to power on. Dimensions are 44.74 × 20.77 × 10.50mm — verify against your existing pack before ordering.

  • Multi-model fit across the LT99xx line: The LT9965, LT9966, LT9960, and DECT GAP handsets share the same battery bay geometry, contact spacing, and 3.6V charging rail from the base station — one battery pack covers the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH analyser. The cells accepted a full charge from a standard 3.6V DECT base, held voltage through simulated talk load, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • First charge after installation: After fitting, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells in cordless phones are often partially discharged from storage — the slow first charge lets each cell balance and reach rated 700mAh capacity.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells do not deliver rated capacity on the first cycle — or even the second or third. Fresh cells have not yet been conditioned, so their usable capacity starts below the 700mAh rating and climbs over the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles. If talk time feels short immediately after installation, run the handset down until it cuts off, then return it to the base for a full charge. Repeat this three times and capacity will stabilise at its rated level.

Base station showing no charge light after fitting new pack

A NiMH battery that has sat in storage for several months can drop to a resting voltage low enough that the base station's charge controller does not recognise it as a valid pack — the base expects to see at least around 3.0V before it initiates a charge cycle. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — some bases retry detection on reconnection. If the charge indicator still does not activate, try a different power outlet to rule out a base reset issue, then reseat again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LifeTec handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones lose their pairing data when power is fully removed during a battery change. With the new battery fitted, hold the handset's page or find button for 5–10 seconds near the base to trigger re-registration — the exact button varies by model, so check the back of the base station for a pairing label. Once re-registered, the handset should show signal bars and resume normal operation.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is usually a seating issue rather than a faulty battery. If the handset is not fully clicked into the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a solid connection and the handset draws on the battery instead of the mains. Lift the handset out, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then press the handset firmly back into the cradle until you feel or hear it seat — the charge indicator light should confirm contact.

The handset range dropped noticeably after fitting the new battery — calls cut out further from the base than before.

DECT transmit power is voltage-dependent. When a NiMH pack is not yet conditioned, its voltage sags under the RF load of an active call, and the handset's transmitter backs off to compensate — this shrinks the effective range. Run three full charge-discharge cycles to bring the cells to rated 700mAh capacity, and the voltage under load will stabilise. If range is still reduced after conditioning, check that the base station antenna is upright and unobstructed.
