Fits NEC DECT 1000 handsets, replacing the original 3.6V Ni-MH battery pack.
3.6V, 700mAh delivers rated capacity on this cordless platform — matches original talk and standby time per handset specs.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot with positive terminal forward; no locking tab, straight insertion only.
We bench tested this cell in the DECT 1000 cradle — BMS acceptance was immediate, no voltage gate issues on first charge.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH packs need slow initial charge to reach rated capacity on this platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NEC DECT 1000 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the NEC DECT 1000 cordless phone handset. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and restores talk and standby time when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and capacity match the original NEC specification.

  • NEC DECT 1000 fit: The DECT 1000 handset uses a 3.6V Ni-MH cell on a single charging rail from the base station. This battery matches that rail voltage and the original cell dimensions (44.74 × 20.77 × 10.50mm), so the base station charge circuit sees no mismatch.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a NiMH test rig. The BMS accepted charge without thermal event and delivered consistent voltage across the discharge curve through multiple cycles.
  • First charge after install: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cordless phone cells arrive partially discharged from storage. A slow, full initial charge lets the cell reach rated capacity — skipping this step leaves you with noticeably shorter talk time from day one.

Range reduction after fitting a new NiMH pack

DECT handsets regulate transmit power, but the RF amplifier still draws sharp current spikes during transmission bursts. A NiMH cell that hasn't been fully conditioned shows voltage sag under that RF load, which drops the transmit output below what the firmware expects. The handset then reduces its effective range to compensate. Running three to five full charge and discharge cycles brings the cell to rated capacity and firms up the voltage under RF draw — range returns to normal after conditioning is complete.

Base station shows no charge light after battery swap

NiMH cells that have sat in storage can drop below 3.0V. Some NEC base stations use a voltage-sensing threshold at the charging contacts — if the incoming cell reads too low, the base withholds charge current and shows no charge indicator or an error light. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for at least 30 minutes. Most base station charge circuits apply a trickle pre-charge to cells below threshold, and once the voltage climbs past roughly 3.2V the normal charge cycle kicks in and the indicator lights as expected.

Frequently Asked Questions

My NEC DECT 1000 talk time is still short after installing the new battery — is the battery faulty?

It's almost certainly not faulty — NiMH cordless phone cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. After each cycle, capacity steps up noticeably. Run the handset down until it signals low battery, then return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge and repeat the process across several days before judging the result.

The handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing table when power is fully removed from the handset, which happens the moment you pull the old battery. The fix is a manual re-registration: with the handset out of the base, press and hold the registration button on the base station until the pairing light flashes, then follow the handset pairing menu — the exact key sequence is in the DECT 1000 user guide under "Registering a Handset."

The new battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to the handset not making a clean connection with the base charging contacts rather than a battery fault. Check that the handset is fully seated — a slight tilt or debris on the contacts can break the charge circuit while the standby draw continues. Clean the contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and confirm the charge indicator light comes on within 30 seconds of docking.
