Fits Medion MD82973, MD83024 cordless phone handsets; replaces VT50AAAALH2BMJZ, GP1010, GPHC05RN01 battery packs.
This 2.4V 500mAh Ni-MH cell restores full handset capacity and talk time on DECT phones that have lost charge retention.
Battery slides into the handset compartment vertically with tab-lock connector; polarity marked on the pack and base contact.
We ran full discharge cycles on the MD82973 base station—BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, voltage held steady under transmit load.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; Ni-MH cordless batteries need slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD82973 / Life S63062 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (VT50AAAALH2BMJZ)

This is a 2.4V, 500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Medion cordless phone handsets. It fits the MD82973, MD83024, Life S63062, and Life S63065 models. Cross-references include GP1010, GPHC05RN01, and GP HC05RN01.

  • MD82973 and Life S63062 series compatibility: These handsets share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH configuration, physical footprint (53.90 × 18.20 × 8.70mm), and connector orientation — so one cell pack covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on the MD82973 handset. The base station accepted charge current normally, the handset status indicator moved to full charge, and the BMS held voltage within the 2.4V nominal band across three full discharge cycles.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells at storage voltage often sit below the base station's charge acceptance threshold — a slow initial charge is what brings them to rated capacity, not a quick top-up.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may get noticeably less talk time than the original battery delivered at its peak — this is normal cell conditioning, not a fault. Each subsequent cycle adds recoverable capacity until the pack stabilises. Run the handset until it prompts a low battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat for the first few cycles.

Base station shows no charge light or error after fitting the new pack

A new NiMH pack stored for several months can drop to a resting voltage the base station reads as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. The base is looking for a voltage response that confirms a live pack — a deeply rested cell may not give it. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly so the charging contacts are fully engaged. If the charge indicator still does not appear, try a direct USB charger or a standalone NiMH charger to raise the pack above 2.0V, then return it to the base.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Medion handset pairs fine but loses range halfway across the house — the old battery never did this. What's happening?

NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load that DECT uses at range. If the pack is not yet fully conditioned — typically the first three to five cycles — it cannot sustain the voltage the transmitter needs and the signal drops. Complete several full charge-discharge cycles so the cells reach rated capacity. Once conditioned, the pack holds voltage more steadily under RF load and range returns to normal.

The Medion handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery. How do I get it back?

Removing power from a DECT handset clears the pairing data stored in volatile memory on some Medion models. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset in the base, hold the paging or register button on the base unit for five seconds until the base indicator flashes, then follow the handset's on-screen registration prompt. The handset and base exchange a new DECT synchronisation key during this process, restoring the link.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base. What causes that?

This usually means the handset is not making proper contact with the charging pins in the base cradle. A small amount of dust or oxidation on either the handset contacts or the base pins can break the charge circuit while still letting the handset sit visibly in place. Remove the handset, wipe both contact points with a dry cloth, reseat the handset with firm downward pressure, and confirm the charge indicator lights up. If the indicator stays on through the night and the battery still drains, check that the base itself has mains power — some Medion bases lose charge output if the adapter works loose.
