This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the SBC CL905, CL9601D, CL960ID, and CL980ID cordless phone handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the handset for calls within range of the base station. Why the CL905 shows a charging error with a brand-new battery

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. A pack that has been sitting in a warehouse can drop below the threshold the CL905 base station uses to detect a valid battery — the base then flashes an error instead of charging. This is not a fault with the battery or the base. Place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for at least 30 minutes; the trickle charge will bring the cell voltage up to the acceptance level and normal charging will resume automatically.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Fresh NiMH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first cycle. The electrochemical surface area in the cell needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the pack reaches 2000mAh. If talk time feels short after the first charge, that is expected behaviour — not a defective battery. Run the handset until the low-battery warning sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this three to five times to bring the pack to rated capacity.
