Fits V Tech cordless phone models 8033280003, 8040320000, 8041340200, and similar; replaces OEM part numbers 80-3328-00-03, 80-4032-00-00, 80-4134-02-00, 80-4290-00-00, and 80-4314-00-00.
This 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers the voltage DECT base stations require to recognize and charge the handset without fault codes.
Connector slides straight onto the handset contacts with no locking tab; orientation is fixed and keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We ran multiple charge cycles on a V Tech base unit; the BMS accepted the cell immediately and held stable voltage through standby discharge testing.
After installing this pack, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity on the DECT platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech 8033280003 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (80-3328-00-03)

This is a 3.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for V Tech cordless DECT phone handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers 80-3328-00-03, 80-4032-00-00, 80-4134-02-00, 80-4290-00-00, and 80-4314-00-00. It fits models including the 8033280003, 8040320000, 8041340200, and 8042800000, among others.

  • Cross-model fit across the V Tech DECT range: These handsets share a common 3.6V Ni-MH cell configuration, the same physical footprint (53.60 × 42.45 × 15.32mm), and identical connector pinout. That is why one battery pack covers multiple model numbers without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a V Tech handset. The cell voltage held steady at the base station charge contact threshold, and the handset accepted the charge cycle without error lights on the first attempt.
  • First-install charge on NiMH cordless handsets: After fitting this battery, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells ship partially discharged. A slow initial charge lets each cell reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the single most common reason a new battery underperforms.

Base station showing no charge light on a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries lose charge slowly during warehouse storage. If the cell voltage drops far enough, some V Tech base stations will not initiate a charge cycle at all — the charge indicator stays dark and the handset appears dead. This is a voltage threshold issue, not a faulty battery. Place the handset firmly in the base, confirm the contacts are clean and making full contact, and leave it undisturbed for at least two hours. Most base stations will detect the rising cell voltage and switch the charge light on once the pack climbs above the acceptance floor.

Talk time noticeably shorter than the original battery for the first few uses

NiMH cells do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the box. Capacity builds over the first three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles as the cells condition. After each full charge, use the handset until the low-battery indicator activates, then return it to the base for a complete charge. By cycle five, the pack should be delivering close to the rated 2000mAh and talk time will stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V Tech handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it reconnected?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some V Tech DECT models drop their base registration when power is fully interrupted. This is a firmware behaviour, not a fault with the new battery. Re-register the handset using the pairing or registration button on the base station — on most V Tech models, hold the base "Find Handset" or "Register" button for three to five seconds until the handset prompts you to confirm.

My handset is sitting in the base all night but the battery is nearly flat by morning — is the new battery faulty?

A fully seated handset in a working base should draw charge, not lose it overnight. If the battery drains while in the base, the charge contacts on either the handset or the base are likely dirty or misaligned. Remove the handset, inspect both contact points, and wipe them with a dry cloth. Then reseat the handset firmly — you should feel or hear it click into the cradle — and confirm the charge indicator light activates within a few seconds.

The handset range seems shorter since I fitted the new battery — calls drop at distances that were fine before. What causes that?

DECT handsets boost transmit power in proportion to available cell voltage. When a NiMH pack is not yet conditioned, its voltage sags under the RF transmission load and the handset automatically reduces transmit power to compensate — which cuts range. Run three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles to condition the cells. Once the pack holds a stable voltage above 3.4V under load, transmit power returns to normal and range recovers.
