Fits Sony S60528 cordless phone handset, replacing original 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 1200mAh chemistry delivers talk time matching OEM spec across DECT platform.
Battery slides into handset slot with flat connector tab oriented toward base jack.
We bench-tested this cell on Sony base station — BMS accepted charge at first insertion with no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony S60528 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sony S60528 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset battery compartment and powers the phone between charges. Voltage and capacity match the original Sony pack exactly.

  • S60528 handset fit: The S60528 uses a compact single-cell NiMH pack at 3.6V nominal. This battery matches that voltage rail and physical footprint — 54.46 x 32.07 x 11.22mm — so the compartment cover closes flush and the charging contacts align with the base station cradle.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH-compatible analyser. The BMS accepted charge current without fault, and capacity came up to rated output by the third full cycle — normal behaviour for a new NiMH cell.
  • First charge on a NiMH cordless handset: Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour slow charge before first use. NiMH cells shipped in storage state need that first long charge to reach rated capacity — a quick top-up will leave you short on talk time from day one.

Base station showing no charge light after fitting new NiMH pack

A NiMH battery sitting in storage drops well below the base station's charge-acceptance threshold — sometimes under 3.0V on a 3.6V nominal cell. Some Sony base stations interpret this low resting voltage as a missing or faulty battery and withhold charge current entirely. The fix is to leave the handset seated in the base undisturbed for at least 30 minutes. Most Sony charger circuits will detect the cell and begin a trickle charge once voltage climbs above roughly 3.2V, then switch to full charge mode.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New NiMH cells do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the box. The crystalline structure inside the cell needs three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach 1200mAh. If talk time feels short in the first week, run the handset down until it prompts a low-battery warning, then return it to the base for a full 16-hour charge — repeat this three times. After conditioning, capacity stabilises at the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sony S60528 handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless phones lose their pairing data when power drops completely. The fix is to re-register the handset manually: place it in the base, locate the registration button on the base station, and follow the pairing sequence in the S60528 manual — typically a press-and-hold until the handset confirms registration.

The S60528 is draining flat overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

Overnight drain usually means the handset is not making a solid connection with the base charging contacts, not a battery fault. Check that the handset is fully seated and that the contacts on both the handset and the base are clean — wipe them with a dry cloth. If the charge indicator light is not lit when the handset is in the base, the cell is not receiving current and will self-discharge by morning.

Range dropped noticeably after I put in the new battery — calls cut out further from the base than before.

NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load of a DECT handset, especially in the first few cycles when capacity is below rated. A conditioned cell holds voltage more steadily during transmission bursts, which keeps transmit power consistent. Run three full charge-discharge cycles first — charge fully in the base for 16 hours, use until low-battery warning, repeat. If range is still short after conditioning, check the handset contacts are clean and seating firmly at 3.6V resting voltage.
