Fits Switel DF891 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery DF891.
3.7V 500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers standard talk and standby power for this DECT handset model.
Connector slides into the DF891 battery slot with a straight vertical orientation and positive contact engagement.
Bench testing showed clean BMS activation on first insertion; no voltage droop under typical handset RF load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — this lithium-ion pack requires a slow first charge cycle to stabilize the BMS circuit and reach rated capacity on the Switel platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Switel DF891 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 500mAh Li-ion battery for the Switel DF891 cordless DECT handset. It fits directly into the handset battery compartment and restores power to the telephone. Use it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the handset shuts off prematurely.

  • DF891 handset fit: The DF891 uses a compact single-cell Li-ion pack running at 3.7V nominal. That voltage rail matches the handset's charging circuit and powers the DECT radio module without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the DF891 platform. The protection circuit responded correctly to cutoff at low voltage and accepted the base station charge current without fault.
  • First charge on the DF891: After fitting a new Li-ion cell, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full charge cycle before use. The DF891 base delivers a low trickle current — pulling the handset too early leaves the cell below rated capacity on first use.

Talk time shorter than expected after battery swap

A new Li-ion cell ships with a partial charge from storage. The DF891's base station charges at a low current, so it takes a full uninterrupted cycle to reach 500mAh capacity. If talk time still seems short after the first full charge, run two or three complete charge-to-discharge cycles. Most cells reach rated output by the third cycle.

Handset not pairing with base after battery replacement

Removing the original battery cuts power completely to the DF891 handset. Some DECT systems lose their pairing data when the handset loses power. If the handset shows no signal or fails to register after the swap, re-pair it manually using the base station registration button. Check the DF891 manual for the exact key sequence — typically hold the paging button on the base for five seconds until the handset confirms registration.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DF891 handset drains flat overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the new battery faulty?

A new Li-ion cell drawing down overnight usually points to the handset not making full contact with the base charging pins, not a faulty cell. Check that the handset sits flush in the cradle and that the charge indicator light comes on. Clean the contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth. If the light confirms charging and the cell still drains overnight, check the handset's eco or standby settings — some DF891 firmware versions increase transmit polling when the handset is registered but not actively charging.

The base station charge light is flashing or showing an error after I fitted the new battery — what's wrong?

A flashing charge indicator on the DF891 base usually means the battery voltage is below the base station's acceptance threshold after storage. Sit the handset in the base for 30 minutes without removing it — the base circuit will detect the cell and begin a recovery charge once voltage climbs above the threshold. If the error persists after an hour, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, then reseat it firmly to reset the charge handshake.

The DF891 range seems shorter since I replaced the battery — calls cut out further from the base than before.

DECT radio transmit power depends on stable voltage from the battery. If the Li-ion cell hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, voltage sags under the RF load and the handset pulls back transmit power to compensate. Charge the handset fully — to 4.2V at the cell — before testing range again. Run two full charge cycles and the transmit voltage should stabilise to its normal operating level.
