Fits Tele-Phone TEL5000, TEL5050, TEL6000, TEL6050 cordless handsets; replaces OEM 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 600mAh capacity delivers talk time equivalent to original battery across all compatible models.
Connector slides into handset battery compartment with single locking tab; no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a TEL5050 base charger; BMS accepted voltage on first cycle without fault delay.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tele-Phone TEL5000 / TEL6000 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Tele-Phone TEL5000, TEL5050, TEL6000, and TEL6050 cordless handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores cordless operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Voltage, capacity, and physical dimensions match the factory specification.

  • TEL5000 / TEL6000 series compatibility: These four handset models share the same 3.6V cell format, connector orientation, and compartment footprint — 42.64 × 30.00 × 14.45mm. One battery fits across the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Ni-MH test rig. The BMS accepted charge from the base station cradle without triggering an error condition, and terminal voltage held stable across the full discharge curve.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After fitting the battery, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before using it. Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged — the slow first charge lets the cell reach rated capacity and sets the baseline the base station uses to detect a full charge.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. A new cell pulled straight from packaging will underperform for the first few uses — this is normal chemistry, not a fault. Each cycle conditions the cell and gradually increases the usable capacity. By cycle four or five, talk time should match or approach the 600mAh rated figure.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting new battery

Ni-MH cells lose charge during storage and can arrive at a voltage below the threshold the base station uses to detect a connected battery. When the resting voltage is too low, the base may display an error light or simply not begin charging. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — the base retries detection on reconnect. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts and cradle pins are clean and making full contact before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Tele-Phone TEL5000 handset won't pair with the base after I swapped the battery — what happened?

When power is fully removed from a DECT handset during a battery swap, some models drop their pairing registration. The fix is to re-register the handset manually: place it in the base, then follow the pairing or registration sequence in your TEL5000 manual — typically a button hold on the base station for three to five seconds until the handset confirms. No settings are permanently lost; it is purely a power-loss reset.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — why?

This points to a seating problem, not a faulty cell. If the handset is not fully clicked into the cradle, the charging contacts don't make a reliable connection and the base never actually charges the battery — the handset runs on standby draw all night. Remove the handset, wipe the cradle pins and handset contacts with a dry cloth, then reseat it and check for the charging indicator light before leaving it overnight.

The range on my TEL6000 dropped noticeably after fitting the replacement battery — is the battery weak?

Range drop after a battery swap is usually a voltage-sag issue, not a capacity fault. DECT handsets boost transmit power when signal weakens, and that RF load pulls more current. A Ni-MH cell that has not yet been conditioned sags in voltage under that draw, causing the handset to pull back transmit power to protect the cell. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and the cell's internal resistance will fall — voltage sag under RF load reduces, and range returns to normal.
