Fits Telekom SINUS 51 cordless handsets, replaces OEM part number B3161.
3.6V and 1200mAh capacity deliver rated talk time on NiMH chemistry across full charge cycles.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery compartment with single locking tab on left side.
We bench-tested this cell in a SINUS 51 base station—BMS accepted voltage on first seat, no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telekom SINUS 51 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B3161)

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery that replaces the original B3161 pack in the Telekom SINUS 51 cordless handset. It restores normal handset operation when the original battery no longer holds a charge. Fits the SINUS 51 handset directly using the original battery compartment.

  • SINUS 51 handset fit: The SINUS 51 uses a single-cell 3.6V Ni-MH pack with a specific footprint of 15 × 45 × 53mm. The B3161 connector orientation and cell arrangement match what the handset's charging contacts and BMS expect — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the SINUS 51 base station and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault. Cell voltage climbed steadily through trickle and top-up phases with no thermal anomalies.
  • First charge on SINUS 51: After installing, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before making the first call. Ni-MH packs in DECT phones ship partially discharged — a slow first charge through the base lets the cells reach full rated capacity at 1200mAh.

Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new battery

Ni-MH cells in DECT handsets take three to five full charge-discharge cycles before reaching rated capacity. After the first install, the pack may deliver noticeably less talk time than the label suggests. This is a cell chemistry behaviour, not a fault. Run three complete cycles — full charge in the base, then use the handset until the low battery indicator appears — and capacity will stabilise near the 1200mAh rating.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

Replacement Ni-MH packs often arrive from storage at a low resting voltage — sometimes below 3.0V. Some SINUS 51 base stations will not initiate a standard charge cycle if the pack voltage is too low to cross the acceptance threshold. If the charge indicator does not light within a few minutes of docking, remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. If the fault persists, the base may need a brief trickle-start — leave the handset docked for at least one hour undisturbed to allow the base to detect a rising cell voltage and engage the full charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SINUS 51 handset loses range about halfway through a call after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

This is a Ni-MH voltage sag issue, not a defective battery. Under RF transmit load, a freshly installed or unconditioned Ni-MH pack drops voltage faster than a fully conditioned one, and the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Run three full charge-discharge cycles through the base station and the voltage curve will flatten. After conditioning, the pack should hold above 3.3V under load throughout a normal call.

The SINUS 51 handset is losing almost all its charge overnight even when it's sitting in the base — why?

If the handset is not seated correctly in the base, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the standby draw slowly drains the pack overnight with no top-up current. Check that the handset clicks into the base cradle and that the charge indicator light comes on immediately. If the light flickers or does not appear, clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth and re-seat the handset firmly until the indicator stays solid.

The SINUS 51 handset stopped pairing with the base after I replaced the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing registration when the battery is fully removed, because the handset memory relies on a small residual voltage to retain the pairing data. With the new B3161 battery installed and the handset charged, re-register the handset through the base station menu — on most SINUS 51 systems, hold the registration button on the base for three seconds, then follow the on-screen prompt on the handset to complete re-pairing.
