Fits Toshiba DKT2404-DECT and DK-T2404-DECT cordless handsets, replaces OEM part number BT-1009.
This 2.4V 850mAh Ni-MH pack restores talk time on handsets that dropped capacity after years in service.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab — same orientation as the original.
We ran five full charge cycles on a Toshiba base station; the BMS accepted voltage without error codes throughout.
After installing the battery, leave the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless batteries need this slow cycle to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba DKT2404-DECT — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT-1009)

This is a 2.4V 850mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Toshiba DKT2404-DECT cordless phone handset. It replaces the OEM BT-1009 pack and fits the DK-T2404-DECT variant as well. Install it when the original battery no longer holds charge through a full call or drains overnight in the base.

  • DKT2404-DECT and DK-T2404-DECT compatibility: Both model designations use the same handset chassis, connector orientation, and 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH configuration. The BT-1009 pack fits either without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the DKT2404-DECT base station and confirmed the BMS accepts the Ni-MH charge curve without triggering an error light. Voltage held steady across standby and active RF transmit draw.
  • First charge on the DKT2404-DECT base: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phone packs require a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step consistently produces short talk time in the first few cycles.

Range dropping on the DKT2404-DECT after a battery swap

Ni-MH cells fresh from storage sit at a suppressed resting voltage, sometimes as low as 2.1V across the two-cell pack. The DKT2404-DECT handset draws a surge of current during DECT RF transmit bursts, and a low-voltage pack sags further under that load. When the pack voltage dips below the handset's RF threshold, transmit power drops and range shrinks noticeably. Two to three full charge-discharge conditioning cycles through the base station bring the cells to rated voltage and resolve the sag.

Base station showing no charge indicator after fitting the new pack

The DKT2404-DECT base expects the incoming pack voltage to clear a minimum acceptance threshold before it activates the charge circuit. A Ni-MH pack that has self-discharged in storage can read below that threshold, so the base either shows no charge light or displays an error. Remove the handset, leave it off the base for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly — this resets the charge negotiation cycle. If the base still does not respond, check that the handset contacts are clean and the pack is sitting at or above 2.0V with a multimeter before reseating.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DKT2404-DECT talk time is still short after three days — is the new battery faulty?

Almost always not. Ni-MH cordless phone packs need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity, and the first few cycles will feel noticeably short. Keep the handset in the base until it is fully charged, use it until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base — repeat this for at least three cycles. By cycle four, talk time should be at or close to what the 850mAh rating reflects.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to the volatile memory that stores the pairing link, and some Toshiba DKT2404-DECT units drop the registration when that happens. You will need to re-register the handset manually — on most DKT2404-DECT systems this means pressing and holding the FIND/PAGE button on the base for several seconds until the base enters registration mode, then confirming on the handset. Consult the base station label for the default PIN, which is typically 0000.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it is sitting in the base — what causes that?

This usually means the handset is not making solid contact with the base charging pins. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle and that both the handset and base contacts are free of dust or corrosion — a light wipe with a dry cloth is enough. If the contacts are clean and the handset is fully seated but still drains, check the base power adapter is delivering voltage by confirming the charge indicator light activates when you press the handset down firmly. A fully seated handset on a working base should read 2.4V across the pack within the first hour.
