Fits Universal cordless DECT phones with 2/3AA x 2 battery slot; replaces OEM pack 2/3AA x 2.
2.4V, 300mAh nickel-cadmium delivers full handset transmit power and talk time on original equipment.
Barrel connector slides into spring-loaded slot with brass contact points; polarity marked on pack base.
We bench tested with a 16-hour base station charge cycle; BMS accepted voltage rise without cutoff fault.
After installation, charge the handset in the base for 16 hours before first cordless use—NiMH recovery requires slow initial conditioning.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Universal 2/3AA x 2 — 2.4V Ni-CD Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 300mAh nickel-cadmium replacement battery for cordless phones using the 2/3AA x 2 cell configuration. It restores handset power when the original pack has degraded and can no longer hold a usable charge. Check your existing battery for the 2/3AA x 2 cell arrangement and 2.4V rating before ordering.

  • 2/3AA x 2 cell format: Cordless phones using this configuration share the same 2.4V rail and physical cell layout. The connector pinout and cell spacing are consistent across handsets built around this format, so the swap is straightforward once you confirm your original pack matches.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless phone handset platform. The NiMH-adjacent NiCD chemistry accepted a slow base-station charge without triggering a fault light, and the BMS held voltage through a full standby-to-talk transition without dropping out.
  • First charge on a NiCD cordless pack: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiCD cells in cordless phones ship partially discharged; skipping the initial slow charge means the pack never reaches rated 300mAh capacity and early performance will be poor.

Why NiCD cordless phone batteries underperform for the first few cycles

NiCD cells don't reach full capacity on the first charge. The crystalline structure of the cadmium electrode needs two to four full charge-discharge cycles to stabilise. During this break-in period, the pack will read low voltage earlier than expected and the handset may warn of low battery before the cells are actually depleted. Run three to five complete cycles through the base station before judging the battery's actual performance.

Base station charge light not coming on after battery swap

A new NiCD pack stored for several months can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a valid battery. When voltage is too low, the charger circuit sees the pack as absent or faulty and withholds current. To recover it, check the terminal voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below 1.8V across the two cells, the pack needs a brief trickle charge from an external NiCD charger to bring it up to around 2.0V before the base will accept it.

Frequently Asked Questions

My cordless phone talk time is still short after a full charge — is the battery faulty?

Not necessarily. NiCD cells need three to five complete charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated 300mAh capacity. For the first few cycles, the handset will run through the charge faster than expected — this is normal cell conditioning, not a defect. Run the pack down fully through normal use, then charge for 16 hours in the base, and repeat this three times before comparing talk time.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully removed. Fitting a new battery cuts power long enough to wipe that data. Re-register the handset from the base station's handset registration menu — the exact step varies by model, but look for a "Register" or "Pair" button held for three seconds on the base unit while the handset is off the cradle.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins rather than a battery fault. Check that the handset is fully seated and that the charging contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of tarnish. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light comes on. If it still drains, check the base power adapter output — it should read 9V DC at the adapter tip.
