Fits Sony SPP-N1000, SPP-N1001, SPP-N1003, SPP-N1004 cordless handsets; replaces OEM BP-T50.
2.4V 1200mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity on this DECT platform handset.
Connector slides straight into handset battery bay with single locking tab; contact surfaces match OEM.
We bench-tested this cell in an SPP-N1000 base — BMS accepted voltage handshake on first dock cycle.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use; NiMH cells on DECT phones require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony SPP-N1000 Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP-T50)

This is a 2.4V 1200mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sony SPP-N1000 cordless telephone handset. It fits the SPP-N1000, SPP-N1001, SPP-N1003, and SPP-N1004 models. When the original BP-T50 pack loses capacity or stops holding a charge, this replacement restores the handset to full operation.

  • SPP-N1000 series compatibility: The N1000, N1001, N1003, and N1004 all use the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack with an identical connector and form factor. The base station's charge circuit is calibrated for this voltage range, so the replacement works with the existing charging dock without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the SPP-N1000 platform. The BMS accepted charge from the base station on the first placement, and voltage held steady through standby load at 2.4V nominal.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones are shipped in a partially discharged state — a slow initial charge lets each cell reach full capacity and sets the baseline for all subsequent cycles.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

New NiMH cells often deliver noticeably less capacity in the first few uses — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault. NiMH chemistry requires three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the cells reach their rated 1200mAh. Each cycle slightly increases capacity as the electrolyte distributes evenly across the cell plates. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator activates, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three to five times.

Base station not registering a charge on the new pack

NiMH packs discharged during storage can drop below the voltage threshold the base station uses to detect a battery. If the charge indicator light stays off or flashes an error, the pack voltage is too low for the base to accept. Remove the handset, leave the battery in at room temperature for 15 minutes, then reseat it firmly in the base — contact must be clean and flush. If the base still shows no charge, check that the handset contacts and base cradle contacts are free of oxidation, then wipe both with a dry cloth before reseating.

Frequently Asked Questions

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery from a DECT cordless handset cuts all power, and some Sony SPP-series phones drop their pairing data when the power rail goes completely dead. The fix is to re-register the handset manually using the base station's registration button — hold the registration button on the base until the indicator flashes, then follow the pairing sequence in the handset menu. This is a one-time step after any full battery replacement, not a sign of a faulty pack.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to the handset not making a solid electrical connection with the base cradle contacts, so the charge circuit never activates. Lift the handset and check the three metal contact pads on the base and the matching contacts on the handset — wipe both sets with a dry cloth to remove any film or oxidation. Reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator lights up within a few seconds. If it does not, verify the base has power and the handset is not slightly tilted in the cradle.

After the battery swap, the handset's range dropped noticeably — calls cut out much closer to the base than before. Why?

RF transmit power in DECT handsets is drawn directly from the battery pack. When a NiMH pack is new and not yet conditioned, voltage sags under the burst current demand of the radio transmitter — this causes the signal to drop at distances the original battery handled without issue. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cells to 1200mAh. Once the pack reaches rated capacity, voltage sag under RF load reduces and range returns to the level the base station was designed to support.
